I did the whole blow the interior fuse while fiddeling with the roof light thing. For anyone wondering thats the one under the bonnet in the little yellow case thing.

symptoms were... no interior lights, computer would never remember settings, remote locking not working

replacing the fuse fixed the problem, but the computer (digital readout in the instrument cluster) wanted me to tell it what the car was.

it came up with a flashing 5, so i selected it
then it asked 3.0 or 3.5, so i selected 3.5 and then it was done

i know my car is 3.5 but what is the 5 option, i think it may be the number of gears available because it now seems to shift a little differently (or maybe i'm just paying more attention)
does anyone know where i can read up on what those options are

p.s. im driving a sequential 4 speed

cheers

it's not actually a 5, it's an S. the other option is W.

S= sedan
W= wagon

to the best of my knowledge

FYI,

The trip computer needs to know this because wagons have a different sized fuel tank to the sedans.
If you'd selected "W" your range to empty function would be out.

Well turns out im not being parinoid, the changes in shifts are quite small but they are different
1st holds on 1/2 a second longer than it used to
the change from 3rd to 4th revs go up a few hundred... used to be smooth

could this be a result of the blown fuse? does the transmition have to re-learn itself or somthing?

Disconnect and reconnect your battery (write down things like stereo settings if you have any and can't remember them off the top of your head), let the car idle for 10-15 mins to warm up, then follow these steps:
