My mate has obtained a trip computer and the switches to fit to his 97 Advance. Cane anyone here tell me if the wiring is already in place for these.. or will it have to be added??
No it is not, easiest way is to get a dash harness from a TH or TJ series 1 (these harnesses will mean you will not have to swap clusters). However of course this is a dash-out job.
Edit: Make sure its not an exec harness, exec harnesses do not have any extras (ie. cruise control, power anything, srs, etc...)

Sorry, you will need to totally ignore the above post as is not correct :)
You will have to change the dash harness but this will not give you any more function than the standard Speed alert. Your range until empty, av consumption, inst consumption, ltr used etc etc will not work.
YOu will need to tap off your ECU for 2 feeds to get the appropiate inputs into the trip comp in order for the above to work.

Thanks guys.. sounds like a big job just for a trip computer. Was hoping the advance might have at least had the wiring in place (Like the older fords did.. of they were the days lol)

Is not a huge job and if you are patient I recon you could get the upper dash harness out without taking out the dash. There will be some drama around the back of the cluster as you will need to release the harness around there and there are a few plastic clips.
Perhaps get the bits and when you need to do your heater core one day which given the car is 11 years old will not be that far away, do the mod then
You will need to tap off #2 injector pulse, is on the far left ecu plug, bottom left wire. ALso grab a power feed from the red wire that goes to your various sensors, I usually tap from the O2 sensor as this wire is patched into many and will eventually end up going to the idle stepper as described in the wiring diagrams.
