First, Yes I have searched the various threads about the tranny shuddering but have not been able to ascertain anything that can assist me to make a conclusive diagnosis.

The tranny was serviced about 2yrs ago, new fluid and filters etc.

The car has driven fine for around 48000km since the service and has never done this until today, though after the tranny service the car was noticably harder shifting and seemed to take about 2 seconds after starting the car and sticking it into R or D before you could actually drive off
The car was parked up from mid january this year for about 5mths due to a broken timing belt which I was unable to replace because I managed to tear my calf muscle and developed blood clots and was unable to stand up for more than a few minutes etc. so the car just sat until I could repair it (4wks ago now)

It has driven fine for the 4 weeks since I replaced the timing belt, absolutely no problems at all, until today when I noticed something weird.

The car seemed to shudder when driving around town today. It didnt do it at idle, but it did shudder when it was driving and I accelerated at anything other than a gentle pace (had to be driven in a gentle old granny style).

From my previous Auto trans experiences I decided to shift the car manually through the gears whilst driving, and it still did the shuddering so I immediately stopped the car and checked the tranny oil, which was at the correct level.

Does anyone have any idea of what this may be? Im wondering if the pump or one of the relief valves (or something else) are not working because I also noticed that it took a few seconds for the car to move after I started the car and shifted to D.

Is it possible that it could just be that the tranny fluid needs replacing or is it more likely to be something else like torque convertor or bands etc>??

I read in this forum (about 2-3 yrs ago) that if the wrong fluid is used it can cause tranny problems which will go away once the genuine Misterbushi fluid is used, so could it just be that the wrong fluid was used?

The chance that it lasted 48000K's on the wrong fluid is about 40Billion:1.... But the fluid could be pretty messed after 48000K's, I try to change mine every 30.

Pull the ATF dipstick out and have a look at the fluid colour, if it's not red then it's time for a change.

Yeah, I was sort of thinking that the fluid was getting a bit old too. Its still red but not as clear as new stuff is.

How do I reset the computer?

pull the negative terminal off the battery for 30 minutes..

then your ECU will reset its own settings based on your driving.. so the first 20 minutes of driving may be unusual

Just a question on the automatic transmission fluid, would it be so bad to use:
http://www.nulon.com.au/products.php?productName=100%_Synthetic_Multi_Vehi cle_Automatic_Transmission_Fluid
or
http://www.penriteoil.com.au/products/automatic-transmission-oils/atf_mhp

I know it has been said many times only use the Mitsubishi oil, but I can't see why other oils that meet the Mitsubishi specs shouldn't be ideal either? The last point there is important, Mitsubishi specs! recommended for the Magna, not any old transmission oil like a Dextron VI which may sound good on paper!

use only mitsubishi ATF oil

the others dont have the proper additives

reports of gearbox failures from the wrong oil used in the mitsubishi autos
has been posted often in this forum

O.M.F.G............. Dont I feel like a total idiot now.......................

Changed the fluid yesterday and the shudder was still there so Today I took it to a mate of my boss who had a diagnostic machine.

He plugged her up and started the car then said "youve got a faulty injector", and even told me which one and of course it was the middle rear one, in underneath the inlet manifold.

He grabbed the flash'est telescopic mirror I have ever seen (it had LED lights on it) and it turned out that when I had removed everything to do the timing belt, something that resemebled a bit of gasket had fallen into the power plug of the injector and was causing it to short out.

He said that it was weird that the engine warning lamp didnt come on because they are supposed to if the EMS senses anything like that.

Anyways, the good news is that the problem with the shudder is now fixed, and the better news is that the tranny has fresh fluid lol.

Thank you to everyone who offered their suggestions :)
