Hay all

My mechanic fitted my evo clutch to my magna. And machined my flywheel. Had a couple of dramas. The clutch itself when first fitted when pressing the clutch it would make a light sandpaper sound lightly hitting something going around and round. My mechanic was explaining it to me that its not right and its not engajing or something i dont know exactly wat he was saying. Aswell the gears when he first drove it were really notchy and crunchy the adjustment is really low he said. And he cant find any adjustment left. He said give it a week see how it goes. and if it beds in. And try and adjust it again. But since i have driven the car the gears go in alot smoother but still a tad notchy. And the sandpaper sound is just about gone. But im not used to the clutch and how low it is and if its normal or not. Anyone got any suggestions.?

wait, I dont userstand, what do you need suggestions on, and whats "how low" like if you said its getting better, whats wrong? and I mean it's an evo clutch so one would assume it would be heavier then a standard magna one

i think your mechanic is a fool for letting you drive it away.

If i went a got a clutch fitted and it wasnt right when i picked it up, i wouldnt be paying until its fixed.

Anyway, the adjustment is on top of your clutch pedal itself. There is a bolt with a lock nut on it. Back off the lock nut, unscrew the bolt to give your clutch more freeplay.

After that, go and grab a piece of 2 x 4, smack your mechanic around the head, then smack yourself around the head for accepting his work like you did.

remember i said u need to take some material off the gearbox? this is why.. the noise will go away once the pressure plate has rubbed enough material off the gearbox.. not the best but wont hurt nething

Sounds like my second gen clutch after I put a new clutch in it - too low, and hitting the gearbox housing. Had to pull it off and work out what was wrong and fix that. Any mechanic who simply removes/replaces clutch components would come across the same problems.
