Anyhow..i gots a Q... I own a 1990 Magna TP, 2.6ltr 4cyl, 5spd. Now i do a bit of towing (nothing real heavy) and i find that the 2.6 isnt the strongest engine in the world... but im happy with the car and dont want to upgrade, so i was thinking of a performance mod... a turbo to be exact... now i know what is envolved in fitting a turbo as ive done this type of mod before... but not to a TP Magna...for starters... where the hell do you find a turbo/ turbo kit for this vechile?? anyone got any ideas? anyone done this yet? if so lemme know! thanks in advance dudes! (and dudettes!) :D

Welcome to the forum!!! I'm also interested in the idea but wouldnt be for a few years. Apparently people have used the engine from a sigma turbo. A few have used the 2.6L and used a Garret Turbo not sure which one sorry. What I would like to know is if a 2.6L Turbo magna would outdo a 3.0L V6 Magna of the same generation (2nd).??

Street torque has built a Turbo TN..

it made around 160hp @ the treads / approx 160kw at the fly!

the piping isnt mandrel bent or anything fancy. this setup cost less then 5k excluding (i think) the ECU. - you get what you paid for - but the end result is a turbo TN with 160hp to boot!

CAD , this is off the topic but what model TP do u have?

welcome CAD. clicking on the link below, u will find some interesting information. it is a turbo 1985 TM SE. though not a TP, almost everything is the same, including engine. it includes tech sheets of wat he did to the car, including the Garret T3 turbo he installed.

oh and chief, it depends whether a turbo 2.6L will beat a 3.0L 2nd gen car. depends how far u go with the turbo. could b small or large, depends on other mods too. but the Turbo TM in my above link will certainly beat a 3.0L 2nd gen stock magna.
