Hey lads and lasses...

We are looking at purchasing a 2008 MITSUBISHI 380 DB Series III VR-X

Being a magna Owner im slightly biased and May be over looking things.

The car Has under 30 thousand K's on it and Has a warranty untill 2017

also it is under 20G... (just)

I am just Courious what are the major issues you have encounterd with your cars and would you buy it again if you had your time again?

Cheers.

Mitch.

I don't own one personally mate, but have driven one around for a full day. They're a great drive and solid as a rock. For $20k, they're the steal of the segment IMO without a doubt.

Curious as to the "warranty till 2017" tho. If you're talking a dealer warranty, they're worthless. Being 2008 tho you will have factory warranty till 2013 anyway.

I say go for it. Just do the usual checks over it yourself and make sure you do a revs check too. Don't bother paying some monkey from RACQ or NRMA to look over it.

Hi, welcome aboard!
The 380 is a very nice car. I've heard a few glitches here about engine noises, dodgy windows, but personally I've had no problems at all. It responds nicely to some simple mods too (more of that later).
Until they were axed, I had always intended to buy another 380 in a few years time (handing mine down to my wife) - but that's not to be.
Try to get a manual!

Re: Waranty... It has some Diamond advantage and a three year dealer waranty on top... Not entirley sure as to what the Warranty Covers But did see the papaer work that said it runs out in 2017.

As for getting a manual... I wish, But it is for the lass who doesnt drive manual...

We were looking at smaller 4cyl Cars and I have been teaching her to Drive a Stick but no need with a decent powered auto.

Thanks for the response.

Mitch.

Where have I heard that before? Oh, yeah! My wife said that too.
I have driven a manual 380 VRX, lovely lovely car!
Either way, good luck with the purchase. Post pics!

Sounds a nice price, especially for a late model vrx with under 40K on the clock. I love my s3 sx I got earlier this year ($18500 with 12 months regf and towbar fiited) and I have found it very enjoyable to drive and well kitted out. Very economical on country drives and what you would expect in city driving. For the price and with factory warranty they can't be beat for value. Mine came with 5 years DA warranty and that was a big factor in buying. Under $20K for a VRX is an absolute bargain.

2007 Series 111 Vrx Purchased in Jan 2009 35000Klms and 5 years factory (Not Dealer) warranty from my date of purchase. Also 5 years roadside assist. $18990 including towbar and rear parking sensors. Add on roads plus approx $500 for factory bluetooth.

Traded in KL verada Gtvi which was a great car.

The 380 in my view is another step up from the Verada in terms of ride and quality of construction. Plenty of power, good handling and very quiet on the road.

Only one minor issue in 12000klms

"Love that car"

Snap it up

I got a S1 GT 4 weeks ago and was the best large car I have driven (better than the other big 6s available) SN: I was going to buy a Aurion (toyota Phanboi and all but I was going to get a POV pack Vs top of the line for the same money and the GT has sharper handling and looked better

but you should snap it up quick and get rid of the rear deck spoiler (IMHO)

it is an awesome car for the money

Mitsubishi has/had a thing where second hand 380's were taken back, fullly inspected, full servicing (including tyres, engine/auto/power steering/brake fluids replaced, brake pads? timing belt? etc and a completely new full 5 year/10 yr powertrain warranty put back on it. They are still doing it now, so 5 yr + 3 yr dealer = 2017. At least you are covered by 'new, factory' warranty until 2014/130,000km regardless of the dealer warranty.

No issues, just been driving it all around. Picked it up on March 31, and have done around 5000k since then.

Mine is one of those described above, but the vehicles from Mitsubishi don't have the 10 year power train warranty, they come with a reset of the 5 year bumper to bumper, up to 130k, which ever comes first.

Only the first registered owner gets the 10 year power train warranty afaik, but either way, the ex Mitsi cars don't get it.

The dealer who sold me mine was using the 5 plus 10 as there sales pitch. I asked for paperwork which they said they don't have and that the computer would pick it up.

Wasn't the 10 year powertrain warranty only for the 1st buyer and not transferrable to subsequent owners?

I'm not sure, I asked the dealer and he said that this was full Mitsubishi backed deal as they are part of MM buyback.

Yes, it's fully backed by Mitsubishi, but for 5 years or 130k, whichever comes first. The 10yr/160k warranty on the drive train is not for these cars.

Im glad my missus owns a 380 :woot:

Now... Lets turn my magna into a 13second car!

Thanks for all your advice,
