Hi guys. just a quick question about the value of a TP GT. Long story short a mates girlfriends parents bought a TP which is not so good mechanically. Blown head gasket, doubt theyre going to fix it since the rest of the car isnt fantastic. Do you guys think it would be worth just getting rid of it to anybody who'd take it, or sell off some parts? I'm sure the fact its a GT means theres some stuff in there that people would want. especially the kit!
its a TP GT sedan, not sure on exact options but i'm sure the fact its a GT will give a good idea. unsure of kms / exact condition etc. I know this is a very vague post but any info on the GT or the market for them would be great.
Any requests offers and i'll pass them on. I'll see what i can do with photos if anybody wants them. As i said, just looking for an idea of prices / best way to offload it for somebody else, not trying to sell it.

Alex will be jumping for joy right now I think.
PM carcycle about it. He buys cheap GTs and Elantes and restores em, I reckon he'll be happy to take it off your hands
The GTs didn't have much special about them except the rims and kit afaik. But a very nice looking car that's for sure :)
edit: If they want to fix the head, I have a whole spare head in good order they can buy cheap :)

hey raven,
thanks for the pm, ill make this my reply to that too!
Ok... tp "GT Magna" worth absolutely nothing more than a normal magna... because noone wants them.
If perhaps there was soemone who knew what they are, and wanted one well then they may be interested... the fact it is a 'grand tourer' might just make someone pick it over a plain one... not pay more though.
if the rest of the car is untidy then really, its not worth anything, and im not trying to put them down or anything, remember im the one with teh bundle of them! its just the facts.
as for selling parts, that doesnt work either, well with a car of this nature anyway, noone wants to pay anything and what always happens is someone will take the wheels or something thus making the car stuck! or a door and then the interior gets wrecked... know what i mean? its not worth the hassle (plus youve got to have them sitting around - the car i mean)
The next option is scrapping it, but the value of scrap has plummited recently, probably end up losing money by paying someone to take it there.
I would take it, if you wanted just to get rid of it, (depends where you are) id just try and drive it back as it is or get it towed back here... dunno why, just coz i cant help myself! That way its gone immediately.
I reckon you should post up some pics just for interest sakes anyway :woot: but not if its an effort to do so.
i hope noone thinks im being too harsh here and id love to hear what other people think, but im just going by what ive experienced. Like i said id take it but thats about all... unless it was immaculate then id pay a little.
Alex.

oh yeah, and the kits?? well noone wants them off the gt coz theyre not teh full kit, elantes are the ones that have the sideskirts etc!
but then again i dont think anyone here even wants them kits anymore!?

not too harsh at all carcycle. I know first gens arent worth a whole lot anymore, just wasnt sure on the market for accessories or anything the GT had that the others didnt etc, which you cleared up for me quite nicely. cheers
As i said aswell, just doing some scouting for a friend whose parents overpaid massively for it then it blew the head gasket in about 3 months and were hoping to avoid losing out too badly. The girl's boyfriend is a member here, drives a really nice KL GTVi so i'll get him to post any info about it. I just said i'd ask around on here since he rarely posts anything on amc... plus i'm always keen to learn about magnas.
i'll keep ppl updated though.

Look in the papers there are people that will come and pick it up + give you $50 for it. Ive done it to 3 cars already.
