Okay, got the alternator in and the car is running again. Woohoo! :facejump::facejump:

But there's a wire I'm not sure about. The main one that clips in is fine, as is the wire that bolts on to the back of the unit. But in the same cluster that brings these wires down to the alternator there is a thin-ish wire with a green plastic female connector on the end, to go on to a spade connector. It is clearly intended to go on to something in the vicinity of the alternator, but it isn't something for the alternator itself - I'm wondering what, in the vicinity of the alternator, it may be for? Is it a standard connection, or more likely for something non-standard? I'll take a photo and post it tomorrow, but in the meantime if someone knows...?

The other thing is I have a spare bit left over. There are a couple of black 'claws' which bolt on and wrap around cables, and there was one down the back of the engine near the alternator that was removed in the process of removing the alternator. Problem is I can't for the life of me remember where exactly it was positioned. Obviously such a thing is useful, but is it important enough to worry about or fine if I just leave it off?
