Does anyone (Verada owners probably) have tinting and auto dimming rear view mirror. Does the tint affect the working of the auto mirror dimming mirror? Had windows tinted to overcome glare from badly aimed headlights and high set lights, such as 4WDs. Now thinking of fitting one of the Verada auto dimming mirors. interesting that the shop where I had the tint donme suggested a darker (non-legal) tint for the rear window. The non-legal tint is hard to pick, because when one looks from the side, you look thru a tinted window towards a tinted windoe, whereas looking from front or rear, one window is not tinted. I wonder how non- legal tint on rear screen affects insurance. Not likely to be noticed by cops. Guy at tint shop said they do rear screen darker on half the cars (extra $20).

With insurance to the best of my knowledge its fine BECAUSE by law your allowed to have the rear windscreen and rear passenger windows as dark as you want AS LONG as you have side mirrors. Its the front windscreen that must be clear and front driver and passenger side windows that must be at 35%. It really depends on how anal the insurer wants to be really. Technically you have one illegal thing on the car its un roadworthy...so its just taking the risk i guess. I currently have 15% tint all round and from what ive seen i havent really noticed any change in terms of the auto dimming. THe mirror has a light level sensor so really if there wasnt enough light coming through the rear to activate the mirror..then it wouldnt auto dim!
For me personally iam not happy with 15%..looking to go bout the 8% mark.

35 on the 380 and the mirror still works (not that you can see anything out the back on a 380 anyway!)

I have 15% on my KJ and it kinda negates the need for the EC mirror anyway. However the mirror does still appear to function.

It still works but not as effectively as if you have no tint.
