Hi all,

Have been contemplating what to put on my car next as wheels and have come up with this:

Rota P45 in Hyper Black or Gun Metal

http://www.machiii.net/wheels/P45.htm

Has anyone heard/seen these wheels before and/or know of a place selling these in Aus as I cant find a dealer from the Rota website.

Thoughts? Want to give my ride a bit of a racer style look and hopefully intime have Evo brakes to suit

Also, these come in 17s, which is ok, but I was thinking maybe 17 x 9? Would this fit and would I still be ok to fit a 235 or 245 rubber? or is the rim too wide? other wise will have to settle for 17 x 7.5

looks like almost the same rim to me.. plus based in Australia, tempe are pretty cheap too..

although these are 18x8 too.. they dont have them listed as coming as 17's..

Also have them as 19x8.5, and 19x9.5.. Staggered? haha

Cheers for the feed back. You have helped me decide on Gun Metal :P But as for the link to Tempe, although the rims are similar, just doesnt cut it hey. There is just something about the P45 that attracts me and the Tempe ones just dont get me as much, don't know what it is.

Dont mind if they are in 17 or 18, wont be going back to 19's tho, weigh too much

Anyone know how to get these into australia?

i reckon going the bronze, would look good on the red :)
as for buying you might need to "do a mike" and buy them from where ever there from

Im glad you didnt say I had to "do mike".... things you gotta do to get things done around here....

As for the bronze.. Im gonna say no, because, I will be painting my bonnet in 2nd gen charcol black and I also have the chrome strip around my windows so would look a bit odd... I just think red brembos contrast the best against darker rims... mmmm gun metal.....

Will go and see one of my mates when I am back in perth and see what I can do about getting these landed in Perth...

The ones that Andrew has now... yeah, they were nice, but im after bit more of a street racer look. Which is why I was after R32 GTR rims... weigh only 6.5kg a wheel, made of magnesium

how is it that i aways get brought into the conversation, atleast this one is clean hahahaha

anyways benny i rekon go gun metal mate, they will look hot with brembos and this type of rim will also show them of a bit.

These are an awesome rim! I was actually going to buy the matt black with red lip option last year, but I couldn't find any Australian distributors, which would mean I'd have to import them. And then I found my current rims on tempe tyres, so it was just more convenient and less expensive to buy these ones. I think I might upgrade to these ones in the future though to show off my brembo's a bit more ;) Let me know if you end up importing these! Maybe we could save on shipping costs if we get 2 sets of rims imported :P

you could go a 9inch wide rim, with something like a 235/35 on it, as long as the offset can be found.

The offset you are looking for would be a +47 on the front and a +40 on the rear. This staggard setup would give some perfect fitment front and back, and with this offset, you would not be able to go any wider at the front. there will be ~5mm strut and ~2mm garud clearance at the front with a +45 or +47. They will fit the backs with a +47 BUT the fitment to the gaurd wont be as close.

I would NOT buy some until you could arrange for a trial fitment with tyres (so you might have to go to somewhere local first)

They are great wheels, light weight as well.

I know the rota website, but the one I had listed showed all the colours the P45 came in. Plus there is no distributor for Aus.

Thanks Lynel for that info. So 9" wide is fine with +40 & +47 ? Just to clarify? And 235 wont look too thin/ stretched on?

Mr_Roberto

for a 9" rim i would get a 245 tyre, 235 will be stretched too much

Ahhzz, exactly what Im thinking.... you have 245 yes rob? I cant see it being a problem with coilovers on the way and my guards are backyard rolled.

i've got 245's all round yes on a 8" rim tho, should be ok on a 9" as mine arent that stretched atm
if the offsets correct then you shouldnt have any problems, you could always flare your guards or something lol
my guards get rolled next weekend :), backyard style too ;)

Had a look on the website, can get in:

18 x 8.5 5 x 114.3 +48 FRONT?

18 x 8.5 5 x 114.3 +40 REAR?

thats as close as I can get to +47 and +40 as quoted by lynel. Would this still be ok with the 8.5"

I think this the P45 either in gun metal or the dark bronze, but on an Evo X :)

P45 in Steel Grey, not gun metal but you get the idea

if you get the 8.5" wide, you will be looking for a +40 front and say a +35 rear. As width changes, so does offset to get the same wheel position. If you have pumped gaurds this is all a rule of thumb for stocko gaurds. The mesuremants i have supplied are to suit stock gaurds, and have the outedge of wheel as close to the gaurdline as possible, JDM style, while keeping within the law. WHeels look better when they fill the gaurds, and this is easier acheived through the right offset as opposed to buying wide wheels and stocko offsets then having to try and roll the gaurds afterwards to fit. Get the right offset, and you can get wider wheels in then off the shelf widths and offset combos.

A lot of jap wheels makers let you pic the offset when you buy. if need be they can usually make you a set, or supply you something within 3mm.

On the 235 or 245 debate. If you are too worried about it, get a 235/40 instead of the 35 profile. Those 9inch widths with +45offsetish, will be aweful close to the strut, not leaving much room for sidewall flex under hard cornering and not pushing the tyre onto the strut housing for some rubbadubdub. With the little amount of flex needed for fitment, the extra profile will make up for any speedo calibration loss, and comfort and looks.

Oh, yeah, ok, I wouldnt be suprised, these are very similar to R32 GTR rims which I am after, but found these for something a little different. But if I can get a set of R32 GTR ones, thats fine, they are magnesium, only around 6kg a wheel
