Does anyone know what automotive carpet is made from? Is it nylon?

I've searched google to high hell and by gosh cant find a single thing.

I'm more interested if anyone knows what the MAGNA carpets are made of, though if you can just tell me autmotive carpet ill figure it out from there.

thanks in advance...
Ian.

A few different materials, mostly a nylon and some other combo on a standard backing, the ones in my mazdas were wool on the normal plasticy backing.

Get a hot bit of metal and see if it melts? If it does it's probably nylon... if not it's probably wool/cotton.

Trying to dye it?

i know QLD moulded car carpets sell them in a range of colours for 2nd gen.. but no 3rd gens :(

and i definitly know my 3rd gen is nylon, as i had the footwell light bulb hanging down for a while when i was fiddleing with the heat exchanger servo.. and it melted a big black patch into my light grey carpet.. :( sigh....
