hey guys
i had a mechanic tell me that if i was interested in better breaks i could look for some GTO/3000GT breaks?
i was just wondering would these be a straight bolt on job or is it even possible?
and i would presume the breaking performance would also be better?
please correct me if im wrong
i just got 19" 5 spoke and you can see everything and i would like to have something bigger and cleaner looking then the current ones.... and also i would love a good breaking performance as i like to take the Rada on some faster rides ;)
cheers guys

BRAKES not BREAKS :kb:
Possible to work as I'm pretty sure the caliper bracket wont fit a 2nd gen (According to GoTRICE) I know they are a Sumitomo 4 piston caliper on the later models and are 5x 114.3 but weather r not they will fit....hmmm...
if you want better brakes without spending thousands on brembos, have a look at twin piston AWD/Ralliart setup. I am waiting on parts to put mine on, they are around 25mm bigger in diameter and also wider i believe. Couple the twin piston calipers with decent pads and discs and you have much improved braking power.

FFS people they are BRAKES not friggin BREAKS does the damn car fall apart everytime you hit that magic pedal -- end rant
Also, belongs in the third gen section :)
As cyber above stated, the best cheap conversion is the AWD or Ralliart set up, have this on the front (cant find a pair of ralliart rear rotors at the moment for a decent price and refuse to use those dodgy spacers) and my brakes are fantastic

Suggest the twin pistion setup.
Ull find that Brembos on an Magna is illegal. Not because of the brakes, but rather, finding a wheel to clear them, tyre to fit on that wheel that has the correct load rating, AND not increasing your track by more than 25mm.
Tough combo

Not really, late model Evo Brembos actually bolt up to the current magna, and finding wheels to fit them isn't hard, there is plenty of 18" wheels out there with adequate clearance. Few members around have them on their cars..

Yes Ralliart & the AWD brakes are the same size. The only slight difference is the AWD's rears have a different hub to accomodate the drive shafts. But for the front they are exactly the same. Best option is to find a AWD or Ralliart at a wreckers before anyone else, and get the calipers and anything else. There are a number of threads on this.

Forget the Ralliart stuff.
Ring around the wreckers and get the front brakes off a 380, much better value for money.

I agree, 380's good enough.

are they bigger as i said if im getting brakes might aswell get ones that are bigger in the rim cheers
380 brakes use same diameter disc, but are 2mm wider i believe at 30mm so they are essentially slightly better at cooling than the AWD/Ralliart twin pistons. I believe the calipers are different too, the 380 calipers have a bloody big PBR logo on them and do look 'tidier'. I was a nats tit away from getting them put on mine but an ex-member screwed me over.

Wonder who that could of been :gfight:
Wreckers will have way more 380's then Ralliart and AWD magna's anyway so I'd be getting 380 brakes up front for sure. Wreckers near me wanted $200 just for the calipers :(

the 380 calipers are alloy aswell while the ralliart and awd are cast.
