my brother is looking for one of these. what sort of money do you think he'll be able to pick up a 97-99 Ei for?

would like to be under 200k if possible and in decent condition.

thanks for any help.

Have a look here to give you an idea.

http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/results.aspx?PriceTo=408&N=1216+1282+4294964597+4294964081+4294922846+408&Nne=15

If it were me I'd pay the little bit extra for an Xi.

For a TH, i wouldnt pay more than 5,500. 6-7 for a TJ series 1, and 7-9 for tj series 2 / tl series 1 with a 5spd auto.

Subtract $$$ for higher than average k's, avg condition paint (quite common), and grotty interiors (as most people dont look after these :( )

Also make sure to check the service history, make sure they have regular services in there. Even if they claim to do the services at home, any decent bottle of oil you buy from the shop has a sticker to put in your book to show the oil has been purchased.

cheers guys. lloking at redbook, it thinks that 98 kf's are selling for 2200-3600. this seems ALOT lower than all the websites ive looked on.

do you think this means people are just advertising at the higher price, but selling quite alot cheaper, or is redbook wrong in this case?

redbook is never accurate, it is only a guide. People are selling at what their cars are worth on the market compared to what else is out there.

However, this doesnt mean you shouldnt throw the redbook values in the face of the seller when the time comes to haggle on the price :)

If someone offered me 2200-3600 for my car I'd laugh and its a 97' KE Ei at heart. $4500-6000 depending is more like it for a KE/KF (Late 96 to 98), in Victoria anyway. Mitsu's seem to be a bit cheaper in NSW.

There were 3 KJ series 2 rada's for sale when i purchased min, 1 in nsw, and 2 in qld. I saved 5 grand by buying the sydney one and having my dad drive it back for me (including giving him $600 for his troubles :)). had less k's than the qld models too
