Hey all
I've done a search and only found instructions relating to TJs and earlier, not sure if they are applicable here. I've removed the gear shifter surround but am now stuck on getting the lower compartment thing and the stereo surround out? Any tips? Is it just a matter of pulling in the right places?

its pretty much the same as the TJ mate
you need to grip the bottom part in a good spot to apply a great amount of pulling force as they are hard to pop out
once out there are two screws at the bottom of the top panel, undo these they pull the panel towards you as its clipped in,
once out unclip the hazard light's, sensor and plastic pipe then the two climate control harness's
should be able to remove the panel now
then undo the four screws to take the deck bracket out, unclip h/u harness then remove h/u bracket

i just did this the other day for the first time...its not all that obvious, there are instructions on here somewhere. but yeh just sort of pull up and out. it will feel like its going to break, just be careful. it will eventually pop and the part will come out, a second pair of hands helps... if u need more help let me know

Easy Peasy, Ease (http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee217/SH00T/IMG_0224.jpg) out the gear surround ( includes P/W controls and Cup holders), Prying (http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee217/SH00T/IMG_0225.jpg) upwards all around and it comes off, the very front is the only bit that doesnt unclip. that slots in at the front, Disconnect (http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee217/SH00T/IMG_0226.jpg) the Power window connection plug,
Apply hand brake, Chock if not on level ground, Place car in neutral and pull surround sliding to the rear of the car.
This is the hardest bit, removing the compartment above where the cup holders were. With the lid open place palms facing upwards Gripping (http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee217/SH00T/IMG_0227.jpg) as well as you can manage (http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee217/SH00T/IMG_0228.jpg) with both hands ( dont grab the door) and pull to rear of the car. This exposes (http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee217/SH00T/IMG_0229.jpg) two screws to remove and the last panel prys (http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee217/SH00T/IMG_0231.jpg) off. Disconnect (http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee217/SH00T/IMG_0232.jpg) aircon controls, hazard lights and air temp sensor. And the bracket holding in the stereo is right before you, take (http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee217/SH00T/IMG_0232-1.jpg) care with the top screws, they require a metal clip to secure themselves and are like ly to jump off when reattaching. Tape them in place.....

Lower TL section is always a bitch for me (I have one in the TH) - Best method is to push your hand under and push it out from behind I found.
