Hey guys!

Well today i had an idea to hook up four horns from a Falcoon, now the plan was to have the wire that runs to the standard horn and splice it into four and have four relays powering the four horns... now that i have been think about it for a while i think that i should only need the one relay as the relays can hold abit of current...

what way should i do it guys?

have four relays running off the horn power wire, as the "switch" and then each relay having its own power supply from the battery OR

have two relays (so one relay can power two horns but the power each relay the same as before.. OR

Have one relay and power all four horns from the one relay and power the relay the same as before.. OR

just power all the horns from the standard horn power as this is a positive wire and i can ground on the body..?

Guys can i please have your input as i plan on installing this tomorrow as im bored hahaha, so if anyone has any other ideas please let me know haha

I have the four horns already thanks to upullit, 21 bucks for all four.. Sweetttt

EDIT: I just founbd the info page about the horns ill be using:
http://www.fiamm.com/prods/am80sl_sti_1.pdf
so if someone here is good with electrics can you please tell me exactly what ill need to do with the wiring..

also is this illegal? if so... who cares!

Also this is a picture of one of the horns ill be using.. Please note that all four are the same except two are Low and the other two are High.. as in the pitch..

also what size fuse will i need.. as ill run a fuse before the horns..

it says in the fact sheet that it draws 4.5 amps.. so ill need a 20 amp fuse correct?

Okay the standard horn wire will run 2 horns no worries. Run the 1 H and 1 L one. (splice the wire)

then to run the other two horns, splice that wire to trigger a 4 pin relay with power coming off the battery, should be fine. let your standard horn circuit handle the 2 horns and another relay triggered circuit doing the other 2.

Illegal?!?! Whos going to know they are in your bumper for christs sake!

just use one relay for all four. All i did when i had air horns was take out the standard horn and use that wire as a trigger for my relay(s). Most basic way imho.

Also, 4x horns at 4.5A = 18A, so a 20A fuse should be fine mate. Gonna be loud as whippy, awesome!

@Whippy..... TUFF's advice sounds good to me.

The idea of a relay is to avoid the need for a lot of power to be routed thru the switch, so a smallish current is run to the switch and when switch closes this activates the relay, letting a larger amount of current flow to a relatively high-powered device (in your case, the horns).

This avoids higher current drain running over long distances, through the firewall in tightly-packed looms where heat might be a problem, and avoids smallish switches inside the cabin from having to handle large amounts of power, and possibly suffering the wear'n'tear and eventual damage from higher-current switching (remember that relays can eventually burn-out.... much better to occur in the engine bay than in your horn-pad perhaps right near an air-bag module!).

Like TUFF, I reckon one relay per pair of horns would be fine - just wire a second relay to be activated by the existing horn trigger-wire. Try to solder any splices and wrap well (or heat shrink etc) to keep dry in the engine bay. For extending from one horn to the extra, either make a wire-junction bit of loom, or investigate those "piggy-back" spade-connector things.

An idea I pinched/adapted from some pics in BJ31OS's thread, was to mount a second horn in the threads tapped into the drivers side engine-mount casting - its quite a short run from the existing horn, and with a bit of judicious bending you can mongrel-ise the Falcon horn bracket to have the horn facing forward and angled down a bit (to avoid drowning it when cleaning using high-pressure washer etc). But you prob have your "horn-placement" (har-dee-har-harr!) sorted out anyway!!

Not sure about the 3rd gens, but on the 2nd gens there is spacing for 2 horns behind the bumper either side. I had to drill out the centre hole of these horns to fit our bolts but they fitted right in...almost made for our cars...

Make sure you test them before you install...you never know if you have bought a buggered one.

I have installed the same, I mounted mine in front of the Radiator support bracket just behind the grill with the horns facing downward/forward. Maximizes the noise without getting water/debris into them. Don't bother installing them in the engine bay if you want really loud.

Make sure you pair up the High and Lows together, so the horns are properly synchronized.

Once installed you'll never look back..each time you beep, instead of your car saying "please move" it will now say..."GTFO of my bloody way...you IDIOT!". Great for use on annoying pedestrians.

I'll show you my install at the next meet...

Check the relay you're running the horn(s) from - I think relays usually have a limit to the amperage they can handle and it's written on them in plain sight. I think :)

Let us know how it goes, I think my standard horn isn't appropriate to the car's appearance or dimensions and it should have some help too.

I initially thought why the ****??? Then I remembered all the times I've been cut off when my front bumper is still overlapping the car ahead of me which didn't check the blind spot.

hahahaahh thanks for all the input guys!!! what ill probably do is run a 40 amp relay(i know its over kill.. but the only other relay i have lying around is a 20 amp) to all four horns.. so basically ill have the horn wire as a trigger... and the 40 amp relay to power it all ill be running a 25 amp fuse.

I have decided to do this as the wire that runs to the horn is Very Fine.. and i think ill over load it very easily.. so its just easier to relay the hole lot...

btw today i quickly hot wired one of the horns anf **** it was loud... then i wired all four quickly to my batt and omfgggggggg my ears were ringing for about 15 mins..!!

okay...i was going to post up in this ages ago,but..:wtf:..4 horns...you obviously havent heard how loud those Falcons horns are.
I have fitted them to my car as well and mounted them behind the grill using a spare bolt hole in the radiator support beam?...If you have picked up the horns from u-pull-it,i hope you had the sense to get the wiring looms that came with the horns ,as these provide a perfect and very easy way to wire the horns up.That std loom included the wires that joined the two horns together and a plug in which all that you have to do is connect one wire from the loom to a good earth....near the washer bottle and the other wire is the feed from your existing magna horn....its really only a 20 min job to get it done...and did you get the original brackets..because all you do then is join them together when you bolt it to the front of the car....and where the heck are you going to mount four of them anyway....and further more..how often do we use the horn any way...and for how long...the talk of relays to protect circuits and fuses....gee...we are not running a couple of spotties with 100 watt globes..at the worst you horn will blast for about 5 seconds...over load a circuit..pah..

hahahahaha nice use of paragraphing mate!

but um.. ill be mounting it on the rad support bar just like you have... and um i have had one of these falcon horns of my car since about 2 days after i bought it. so i know how loud they are hahaha

and i did collect all the wiring i could as i had the same idea mate..

well tomorrow ill be getting the grill etc pulled out to install all this stuff....

hey guys having these infront of the rad.. will it affect the cooling to much?

Diddly squat !

ahha thats what i thought.. as the cool air is still there... and it will just move into the rad around the horns..

Well considering that on your car they will almost be mounted behind that beak nose of yours..then,no ,cooling wont be an issue.

So..... I'll keep my eyes peeled for a TJ with the "beaky nose" distorted by a wall-of-sound - probably blasted into shreds of metal like in the 'toons?

OMG 4 horns? lol My car has 2 so i got rid of one because I thought that was to noisy lol. You should buy a 5th horn and mount it in the rear bumper so you can beep at tailgaters lol!
