ok i have a little bit of a problem....
puled the dash apart on my 2nd gen to clean the vents etc, and upon forcing everything back together i have ended up with losing various clips and a screw or maybe two. anyway main problem is there is 2 screws left over. they are bigger than the rest but i cant remember where they are from. any ideas? i followed this...

ah my mistake. tis a 3rd gen. the air con unit also has a bit of a recess away from the face of the dash. i put that down to a loss of a clip though. should i just take it to a panel shop or something and not deal with the crap again?

Post up a pic of the screws that are left over might help us identify where they belong. From memory i think a total of 9 screws come out if you want to take the stereo out of a cliamte control 3rd Gen.
happens all the time to me man. i think ive got about 3 screws holding my car together!!! Heh Heh. If all else fails, cable ties. GO THE MIGHTY CABLE TIES!!!! Mans best invention

lol it's no fun if you don't end up with screws left over, as long as it's all tight and theres no rattles wouldn't worry about it...

Ive got an old stubby holder full of excess screws from all the times ive taken my car to bits. As long as theres some in there nothing should move too far

i think its 8
4 for the fasic panel and 4 for the h/u bracket
might be the screws from the lower dash part under the steering wheel (maybe bonnet latch?)

well it seems to hold together. the only worrying part is its the only 2 screws that were larger than the rest, so i assumed they might be important. but nothings moving except for the air con unit so i guess its coming out again friday
mate seriously dont worry. My dash has been in bits ALL weekend and literally been pulled apart a few times. As long as you make sure you screw in the headunit bracket with the 4 bronze screws and have as many clips as possible in the dash surround you should be all good. My dash surround is minus 1 clip but its the passenger side so not a visible problem. Also make sure you put a fair bit of force onto the face of the surround when putting back together so everything clips back in, and DONT push the air con heater controls knobs as they will unclip from the main surround face.
Where are you in NSW?
edit: I have a couple of washers and 3 screws left over :|
