I went to a Mitsu dealer today to get a factory remote for my central locking (which mine had standard). I went with a mate that also has a KSxi with remote standard (he is also missing remote).

Basically they gave us a 1 button remote (like the TE/TF's). I said to them it was meant to be a 3 button but the parts guy said thats what is listed for the KS. So we purchased them ($60 EA) and sat in the carpark for ages trying to make them work. Which didnt.

Service guys came out and automatically said thats the TE/F one and it should be the 3 button one. They gave me pic of the different ones and pointed at the KS, KExi, KF one.

Now i have a KFxi remote from my old car which i brought new not long before it got written off. Ive tried that on both cars and no luck. When i called up mitsu a few days ago the guy told me the KF and KS remote look the same but have different internals (and part numbers).

The spares guy was now telling me that the KF one was the right one not the 1 button i gotten off him earlier.

The spares manager came over and blurred out some part number for a remote which came up as $262 each and they didnt have one in stock.

Anyway the service guy came up and gave me a print out of "how to program keys" but it says its for the KE/KF not KS. On the diagram it says you need to earth terminal 1 of the data link connector, do you need to do the same on the 2nd gen? if so does anyone know what pin as its different?

Can anybody help me with what their factory KS remote looks like or if it looks like the KExi /KF one, the numbers off the back of it so i can compare to the one i got?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. it seems not even mitsubishi even know what remote it uses. Sorry if i blabbered on too much.

thanks again ppl

do you know the correct procedure for programming these 2nd gen remotes? seems to be different to the 3rd gens..

i was a spare parts manager for a couple years at a motorcycle dealership, it was a piece of piss. And i knew bugger all about bikes when i started. and these guys have been at mitsu for 10-15 years and dont even know what a the difference between a KS and TE are.

thanks mate, ive looked through a few manuals now and cant find anything as yet. ill probably be up all hours of the night again researching.

You should be able to do the key flick trick (on-off-on-off-on-off blinkers flash)

Thats's what I was told anyway and the Castle Hill guys are pretty reliable (unless you are ordering parts, you have to order them about 4 times before you can actually get your hands on it)

Interesting..... the Mitsu guys at Castle Hill reckon that's the way to do it with the KS.
