Ok so just recently I got a new muffler installed and got told that the resonator on ym car is pretty shitty and that I could replace with the resonator with a pipe for more sound?
Anyone had any experience?
Thanks,

Dont do it!,put on a lukey or simlar "performance" perforated core resonator, as big as you can fit under there!,takes away the rasp and crackle and bee in the bonnet sound these cars tend to make, they dont cut a hell alot of sound either, just help the note etc

Yeah definitely get it replaced, sounds absolutely terrible without a resonator in the mix...

What people dont know is that magna relies heavy on rear muffler to reduce noise. Removing it will make the car sound like a hollow tractor..:)

Of course it will, its the only real "muffler" in the entire system, the centre one is only a straight through resonator that simply doesnt have enough volume to muffle anything well at all and is used to "tune" out resonance and unwanted frequencies, hollow tractor ?,id say a busted fart!

When I had a TE 3.0 manual I fitted a Lukey LR2779 to it. The LR2779 is the 'aftermarket' version of the VRX 'straight through' muffler and it was designed specifically for 3.0 & 3.5 Magnas.
When I first fitted it, with the stock resonator in place, it sounded little different from the stock system. Way too tame.
I then removed the resonator and replaced it with pipe.
It then sounded a lot better - nice deep growl when the foot was planted, gentle burble at idle, and no drone at all.
A couple of years later I put extractors on and it sounded even better (if a little louder, but still not too loud).
I'm aiming for the same sound in my 380 (dual system), and my exhaust guy is now looking into getting Lukey/Walker to build two custom mufflers, same size, shape and internal design as the LR2779 except 4" shorter. The LR2779 is 22" long and way too long for a 380, and 18" is the longest that will fit and still clear the fuel filler pipe cover on the passenger side.
So if you want your 3.0 or 3.5 Magna to sound good, with a bit of noise but not too loud and no drone, I recommend the LR2779 and removal of the resonator. Only risk is that while I know it works for a 3.0 manual, I can't vouch for the 3.5 or an auto, and especially not a 3.5 auto.
A Berklee BS0655 will probably achieve a similar result.
But with any other free flowing or straight through muffler (such as a Lukey Ultraflow or a Magnaflow, and especially any sort of cannon) I would recommend against removing the resonator. These other mufflers are just too small to prevent annoying drone.
