What is the belt lock ecu and what does it do?

After making my manual a/c console pannel I figure I might as well go the whole way and install the automatic a/c controls from the TL and use the proper console. My car is a TF.

The belt lock ecu only appears in the TE - TH models and is part of the the a/c system. It is not present in the TJ manual a/c system and as such is wired differently.

From the diagrams the belt lock ecu has something to do with compressor rev computing and engine rev computing (which leads to the distributor).

I'm planning on by-passing it for my mod of installing the auto a/c as not to disrupt the other functions it may perform. I just want to learn more of what I does before I take it out of the circuit. I also want to document my progress of this mod so I can share it with other people that have been asking about performing the upgrade.

PLEASEE no posts about how I should just change the dash loom. I know it'll just be easier. Not gonna happen. I want to do it my way, and without removing my dash. (I have plans to remove the dash - but not till later on this year).

Thanks in advance.

In the automatic a/c on the TH the belt lock ecu is replaced by the a/c ecu. Forgot to mention.
