Was told by Paceway Mitsu that the TE/TF auto box may have some differences. One is a 'One Way' clutch (whatever that is) and if so will have 'OW' stamped in 1 inch letters on the box. This box can not be retrofitted with the other. Both models TE/TF (and probably others) can have either box apparantly.....

Can anyone clarify and maybe post a pic of this 'OW' stamp?

If your car a 3.0 or a 2.4?

I know the KE's were 16 bit processor and the KH were 32.

Dont know about the KF's though.

Saying that, my KE is the only verada i have had that actually kicks back gears to help you slow down long hills like they are all aparently meant to do.
It will drop back to 3rd or even 2nd sometimes bringing revs upto round 3500rpm. I can remember Mitsubishi advertising this fact about theoir tansmissions but none really do it.

Also, when we bought our KE brand new in Dec '96, the transmission only lasted 6000k's until Mitsubishi replaced it with a new/updated one.

yeah i found this out when i was looking for a new gearbox!!

From what i can remember, which is not alot, they can be used in either, one is just going to cost more then the other.. although im prob wrong and just forgot how i decided.. sorry man

Really? I have a KJ and 2 KJ's neither that do it.
The KJ AWD will do it if on cruise control but thats all.

Well mine is a KE, so its probably much alike your KE.

I have the option of buying a S/H TE auto box to replace my TF one. The owner of the TE box does not have 'OW' stamped on it. I was wondering if anyone knew where this stamp would be as looking at the box while it is in the car is a pain......

Also, anyone got a pic of a TCU ? Is the ECU part of the same box or a different unit?
