In my 1990 TP EFI Executive, the "D" Light does not come up. A year ago it use to go OFF whilst driving and come on again. So, assumed it was a connection issue. It has since stopped.
Question is - Is it an LED or a bulb? I have opened up the cluster BUT cannot get to that point. How do I remove the dash plavte from the cluster? I can touch the needles etc. So, have got to that poit.
Suggestions?

hey welcome :D .
it would be a globe not an led, but i know my m8s tf when he got it the D light didnt work at all and we found his g/box was stuffed and it was an indercation that it wasnt workin propully, but once he got the g/box fixed it worked but i would say it would be the connector down by the selector, i would say its probally wornout the connector
hope that helps :D

Bugger me, thats a bit of a worry cos my 'D' light has never worked since I bought my car, , might have to get that looked into. I remember reading my owners manual it said that if the 'N' light, (think it was 'N') flashed while driving it was a warning that your transmission was over heating, I always assumed my 'D' light never worked because the bulb was blown. I'm gonna have to have another read of my owners manual once I get my car back from getting my pacemakers fitted :) . Does any one else know anything about this 'D' light not working indicating a trans fault?

hmmmmm, its a bit strange I think, I might try disconnecting my battery and see what happens, couldn't hurt, I might have to consider taking my car to a transmission specialist and getting it checked over, cos dam, transmission replacements aren't cheap  .

Taking the instument cluster out isn't exactly a quick and easy job. But then again I don't like that D light not working.
