Also only have a 0.5m ground cable for my amp and having trouble finding a place to ground it as my amp will be sitting right begind my tail lights.

Hey dude welcome to the forums,
You dont need to take the shelf out to install / remove the 6x9's. You just need to go down to Autobarn or Bunnings and find these tools that are Z shaped with a flat head up one end and a Phils head ( which is what you need ) at the other end. They usually come in a pack of 3. :D Is their any big bolts near the back of seat, i remember taking all my carpet out of the boot and their was a couple of decent bolts I seen perfect for grounding an amp, make sure you strip the paint off first though.
Good luck with your install, looks hard but is easy. lol

yeh, i need to replace my stock 6x9s coz i think i killed them. yes there is a bolt on the back of the backseats inside the boot, i grounded my amp there too. stuck the o-ring terminal thing over it, then tightened a nut over it. i didn't strip any paint tho, seems fine :)

I can loosen to screw on the 6x9s but when i try to remove them from the top the hit the rear windshield i thought it might be easier just to take out the parcel shelf.

Ill try the bolts for the ground though

Can you get all the screws loose? Cuz the front one is easy its just getting those rear ones out. If you can get them all out, the 6x9 does come out without scratching the windscreen. Just play around till the P.O.S comes out. I just lifted mine out and tilted it when i couldnt pull it no more. Curious to know what is in your system. :D

You could try grounding near the farctory fitted aerial?? That certainly has to be grounded. Might not reach with your 0.5 metres of cable though.

hold on, so would this mean that if i were to remove my 6x9s then i would need to remove my parcel shelf. i don't want them to scratch the tinting i have on the back

make sure u strip/sand the paint off for an optimum ground. you want metal to metal to avoid damaging your expensive sound gear.

I used a screw driver bit that fits into a drill. They fit into a about a 6mm socket i think. I can't remember too well but i may have used the bit and a shifter spanner to get the back two screws out. The Z shaped thing sounds cool though.

Another thing you may have to watch out for is, my 6x9's were "long throw" and they didn't sit in properly. So i had to roll the edge of the metal under the parcel shelf out a bit. Done real easy with a shifter spanner. Oh, and don't drop the screws under the parcel shelf while putting them back in. One of my screws are floating under there somewhere. lol
Anyone else find this problem?

Yep, I dropped one of em too. Was a bit worried it might vibrate like hell in there, but it has'nt. Must be stuck somewhere :D

I did that in mine to, its been about 4 months since i did it and the screw vibrated out the other day with the sound system and the exhaust.
It proberly took us about an hour to change the rear speakers but we used those Z shaped screw drivers they made the job much easier.

I dropped about 5 screws down the back of my parcel shelf when putting new 6x9's in, although luckily enogh they don't rattle at all  . I used a combination of things to get my stock 6x9's out, philips head drill bit in a socket, screw drivers and pliers from up underneath through the boot, just grabbing the bottom of the screws and turning them, wasn't too difficult, just took a bit of time and a bit of mucking around, but I managed alright  .

And also, does anyone know how to remove the back seat, top and bottom parts? I'm putting my lowered rear springs in tomorrow but I know you need to get the back seat out to get to the bolts that hold the spring/shock assembly in from the top. I've been told you don't need to remove the parcel shelf, just the seat itself. Does anyone now how to? Im guessing its just a matter of bolts for the back rest bit, I know its just like two clips holding the bottom bit in. Any one removed the back seat before?

From memory its just two clips underneath the fabric. Detach them and pull the bottom out. You will need a socket set to remove the rear backrest...easy. No need to remove the parcel shelf from there on.

you can remove the back seat and back rest by first uncliping the seat, (two clips) you can feel them if you just run your fingers along the bottom of the seat. and then the back rest is held in by 3 bolts, 2x10mm (left and right) and 1x12mm (centre). Just force it upwards and it will unclip itself, then it is just a matter of slide it off the clip and then you should have enough room to get to the rear strut bolts, don't need to completely remove the back rest.

doing the rest struts is a lot easier than the front struts.

i would just like to say, that after i removed my dying/99.99% dead 6x9s, the subs seem to sound better...louder and deeper :D
....dunno, could be because i couldn't hear the distorted vomit the 6x9s were playing anymore.

don't need to completely remove the back rest.

Correction, you do need to remove the back rest completely otherwise you will not be able to access the bolts. You may need to re-think that
