Ok, I was just cut off by a **** in a commodore, and had to swerve into the gutter to miss him. Now I have about 350mm of gutter rash on my passenger side front wheel. Its not very deep at all, just massively long. Has anyone on here ever polished gutter rash out? I assume that the wheel would be a pretty soft alloy, so does anyone have any tips or techniques I could use to avoid making it worse? Or should I just take it to an engineering place and get a pro to do it? Wheel is a S2 VR-X rim.

nah they're crap now mate, give them to me, I swap you for my sports 16"s, happy to help :) but seriously I know there are places in Adelaide that can do this for you, just don't know who or where. Looking for one myself, want to see about getting rims 'changed' in appearance to match the alloy I got from the clearance house.

Try this mob,

Heard good things about them although I haven't personally used their services.

If you could report back on the cost that would be great - 3 out of 4 of my 19s need to be rash-repaired (1 my fault, other 2 previous owner)

To get a rim re machined, in which it'll need to be re-clear coated you are looking at well over $140 a rim

I honestly don't mind paying that for one rim. Wouldn't want to do many more though!

Yeah unless its a rare rim (like the ones yann89 ruined:P) or from an expensive car (Merc, HSV, BMW etc) and depending on how bad like TJ said can go over $300, find out how much a replacement rim is first..

I had a mate who did a DIY job and turned out pretty decent. All he used was a spray on Filler, sanded it down and repeated a few times, let dry and sprayed it with rim silver. Looked pretty good. You only can notice it a little right after a wash, but a day later, it is covered in shit anyway. However, if you want it perfect, take it to the shop.

i've got rash on pretty much all my rims, went to autobarn, grabbed some etch primer, a can of coloured paint and some very very fine wet rub sandpaper. I'm gonna paint right over it.....should look good when i get off my a** and do it.
just a thought of something else you could try.....
