well, since this dickwad installed my central locking, amongst a bunch of problems im currently ironing out from his mistakes, my TR keeps thinking i have a door open.

This leads to my alarm going off randomly, my interior light and door open light flashing on while im driving, and just generally being annoyed that theres something else wrong with my car.

I've just replaced the little button things that detect open doors, and located it to my drivers door. when the door is closed, i can bump it and the light will come on, and i can pull it a bit and it'll go off again. obviously there isnt that much movement in the door itself, but this is what is making it happen.

Any ideas?

the replacement button things are new, so i wouldnt think it is them. the drivers door i did replace earlier this year, but the problem only started very recently so i wouldnt think its related.

Isnt there a little rubber bump stop on your door that presses against the button when the door is closed? Adjust (cut/add) to get the door ajar button to sit in the spot you want.

nah, the bump stop presses against the metal next to the button, the button pressed against to the metal next to the bumpstop.

Did it do it before this install? I'd rip it out and have someone do it again.

nope didnt do it, im thinking i'll call him and have him fix it, even though ive fixed most of his mess (broken door handle, neither front ones clipped in, both front speakers no longer working etc)
i'll get his number from my dad tonight and get him out here on monday me thinks.

Bloody oath dude. Thats crap service. TBH I'd start by undoing your drivers kick panel, and bottom of the steering column and see what he's done. for all you know he could of used crimps

yeah i'll get in there and have a look, when you're paying someone like $250 for a job you expect it done decently. (dad payed it for birthday though)
next time i'll stick with alberts etc

problem solvered boss

for those interested, the latch which the door grabs onto had lost its plastic coating allowing some movement. i slightly loosened both screws holding it in place and hammer tapped it closer to the interior. works perfect now

all problems from alarm dude fixed, and no chance of me ever using him again.

my car is having similar issues and its ticking me off real good

are these hooks in the door or chassis?
