Hey guys. i went into JB HI-FI the other day and spoke to a guy about an ipod connection for my headunit (http://www.glodokshop.com/AV/media/pioneer_dehp8450.html). He pointed to a $140+ pioneer box thing and said "this will do the job". So i asked if he had anything substantually cheaper, like can i just plug an AUX cord or something into it that away, will there be an outlet at hte back. He said yes.
SO i went home and pulled the dash out and couldn't find an AUX output at all. Just alot of speaker cables and a few strange connections that had little spikes inside a square (really bad description but didn't take a picture, not game to pull it all out again unless required) do you guys know of an ipod connection i can get that will work for me? the specs for the headunit are in the url above. It does say on that site "AUX-In (with optional CD-RB20)" but i couldn't see the typical AUX input, like you see on this picture here (http://www.zerotohundred.com/newforums/attachments/ice-in-car-entertainment/189985d1234022391-pioneer-headunit-2150ubg-hu-mp3-usb-rm419-3050-jpg), the little hole.
any help would be greatly appreciated :)

You can either get the proper Ipod adapter which I had which works really well - quicker than a similar Alpine Deck with direct Ipod control. Other option is the basic 2 RCA input. Both adapters work via the BUS input ( should be a white rectangular hole with prongs ) usually reserved for your CD stacker.
This is the simple AUX one:

This is the Ipod one:

thanks so much Mr İharisma :) i will look into it all and see whats feasible. i would like a very easy to use yet effective one, but i just thought $140 was abit too much for a simple ipod addapter. thanks again

Or, if yiou arent concerned about controlling the IPOD via the head unit, you could always try one of these from ebay:

I bought the third one, so I have the option of using the 3.5mm socket or the Ipod connector.
Cheers

This is when I love my JVC headunit, plug your iPod into USB and away you go with full control, none of these stupid adapters that cost ridiculous amounts of money just for the privilege of controlling your iPod through the headunit.

$140 is about the price you should expect to pay for these kind of adaptors. It's not unreasonable, it's just how much they cost.. Your head unit doesn't appear to have normal aux in, but even if it did, you'd be able to play the audio from your iPod but you'll be running down the battery. Whereas the rpoper adapter Should charge and play
edit:
but having said that ... Take a note from lugo and upgrade to a jvc unit :p

:eek2: A JVC plug, how un-usual lol
But yeah the CD-IB100-II will charge and allow you to control your Ipod from the front of your deck meaning you don't need to get it in and out of a secret place ( like the glove box ). I had on running off a 8650mp, worked great.
