Hey all. Power problem here somewhere. I own a 2000 TJ Magna and in it i have a JVC KD-DV4306 DVD Headunit and a JVC 4CH AMP (Cant remember model name).

Basically its all been running fine for a month ago since being fitted, worked all weekend. Today i jump in the car and goto press 'eject' which i can do while car is off and i notice it wouldnt eject. The little power button is still illuminated like it usually is though. I turn the engine on and the head unit doesnt turn on and start playing like it normally would, instead it sat there with the power light still illuminated.

So i removed the head unit face and pressed the reset button with no luck at all. Next i checked the amp, no power light was on. I checked all wiring at the battery and also the amp. What could the issue be?

If the amp has no power then that would indicate that the head unit isnt working because if the headunit doesnt work then theres no remote for the amp to say its on. Correct?

If the head unit had a ground issue it would most likely flicker and chuck a tantrum at me, theres no flickering at all. It just sits there like the cars not on.

Any help appreciated.

if the h/u isnt turning on then your amp wont turn on
i would pull out the h/u and check the wiring on the back, a wire may have come loose or a fuse has blown
could also be a bad earth

Just went for a drive. Everything started up fine this time with no problems at all. Even went into shop with car turned off, came back out and its going fine.

Gremlins have struck again... They can do that...

Deck may have hit thermal cut out?

If its a detachable face - try cleaning the contacts on the HU and on the face.

I'd be checking your power wiring connections and so fourth over too, last think you want is a problem with the power. Did you solder your connections when you put the headunit in?
