Gday guys just after a bit of help.
I have a pioneer amp sitting in the lounge room that i used in my old setup (was running my single sub, now upgraded to dual) and was wondering if it would match the splits i have
the amp: http://images.google.com.au/imgres?imgurl=http://www.autotoys.com/pics/thumbs/t_GM5100T.gif&imgrefurl=http://www.autotoys.com/x/catalog/ARCHIVES-NO-SALE-orderby1-p-1-c-942.html&usg=__-09MH7exUBt5Qs5SvWgvOMCSXms=&h=163&w=180&sz=18&hl=en&start=23&um=1&tbnid=S82fHgZe1kIFzM:&tbnh=91&tbnw=101&prev=/images%3Fq%3D760watt%2Bpioneer%2Bamp%26ndsp%3D18%2 6hl%3Den%26sa%3DN%26start%3D18%26um%3D1
and my splits are MTX thunder TH5602.
Now my question is, should i hook the splits up to the amp or are they not compatible? atm the splits are running of the headunit.
thats all i know about my system so sorry if you need more info

haha sweet cheers for the Mr_Roberto, will gimmie something to do tomorrow before work :( haha
Longer cables _might_ add noise to the system, especially if the RCA or speaker cables run alongside power cables, but it's just a might.
What model amp is it? The link just went to a whole pile of amplifiers.
Unless it's <10W RMS, then it will most likely be an improvement on the head unit and give your music a boost.

the RCA cables will go from one amp in boot to the other so not near any power at all, was just worried about the lenght of speaker wire.
Model number of the amp not quite sure, are they printed on the amp itself?
In my experiences, if the model number isnt advertised on the top, the theres normally a sticker underneath.
Long speaker wires in themselves arent an issue, but do increase chance of inducing noise from other electronic sources, so thats the worst you have to watch out for.

Okay just had a look underneath and it has 'GM-5100T' that what your after???
Pioneer specs say: "Continuous output power: 2 x 125 W or 1 x 380 W (4 Ω)" - that's probably at 13.8 or 14V, so should be an easy 100W RMS without the engine running :)
I think the splits are rated at 65W RMS, so that's good power for them.
I believe speakers are less likely to fail with a higher rated amp delivering too much clean power, rather than an under powered amp clipping and sending a bad signal to the speaker - that's what fries the voice coils.
I think it will sound great personally. :)

oh okay cheers oggy probs be alot smarter to hook em up rather then leaving the amp sit around the house haha, cheers mate :)
No sweat, I know what you mean - I've got a RF 12" Sub in the loungeroom, currently for home theater, and 2 amps totalling > 400W RMS not being used.
Now that I've got a car for long term, I've got to start making use of them all too!

Alright need your help again :( uhm went to install the amp today but not exactly sure how to run the wires...i have the stock wiring from HU to the crossover then to woofer and tweater atm. how do i wire it to the amp?
RCA's and remote wire run from the headunit to the amplifier, speaker wiring runs from the amplifier to the crossovers. Crossovers to speakers are the same as you'd have them now.

If you mean the door grommet, you will need a flat head screw driver to pop the clips that the rubber goes over ( read gently ) and take the rubber bit comes. Then you will need like a coat hanger or something to feed the wires through. Long neck pilers come in handy as well... Once you are done, put the rubber on first then clip it all back on.
