Hi Guys,

I have a 1996 TS Magna Automatic V6 that has little oil remaining according to the dipstick. It has been making a few occasional thumps when changing down gears (reducing speed through braking) which I believe are caused by the lack of lubrication and was the case in my previous car. I have it booked in for a serivce on Friday where I have been quoted $180 to have the oil changed and a new filter and gasket set fitted to the car.

Is this a reasonable price/is it worth doing straight away or should it be inspected first for possible other problems? The overdrive and power buttons functions both work effectively.

Cheers,

Tom

Also should I get my mechanic who does it in the driveway to do it or should I take it to an actual automatic Transmission shop like Fluidrive?

That is a good price for a service
get them to check for leaks at the drive shaft seals
