Hi guys,

Trying to sell the TR, just had a quote for the roadworthy which i thought was ridiculous (even though it's come from my mechanic who has looked after me for yonks)..anyway ill break it down:

New rear tyres
left hand steering rack boot
wheel alignment
oil leaks around timing cover
front struts
front bump stops
front brake pads
rear brake lights

$1400.....seemed a little high to me. Thoughts?

Cheers in advance

1) Tyres....second hand...$50 a piece.
2) Boot is $10 from Bursons and easy as to fix, take the tie rod end out take out old boot put new one on etc
3) tyre joint $50?
4) replace rocker cover gasket i dare say no more then $15
5) Bit of a toughy, either scour wreckers or fork out for new ones @ $240 for 2
6) $25 for a pair of stops from autobarn
7) $40 1 hour DIY
8) $2 and 5 minutes

so yeah....$1400 I'd tell him to go shove it. Cause thats less then half a days work WITH everything you need.

pretty sure you can get struts from clearance house? you could do half of it yourself and save heaps :P

EDIT: sorry clearance house in SA. has brand new TR-TS struts though im pretty sure...

thanks guys, i thought he was full of crap. I really don't have the time to do this myself, ill just take it somewhere else and have it done cheaper.

ill do it for ya for $1000 hahahahhaha

but seriously its not THAT much work, your getting charged through the roof for wheel alignment is my bet (because he probably has to drive off site to get it done)
