Hey guy's i have booked my self in to darkside customs on friday.

Basically we are removing all my tint, some being cracked. and replacing it

Im not sure the darkness i want, i want it as dark as i can get, while looking legal.
Note: my car is a dark green.

So what is the most practical option ??

Edit: dont mind it being illegal, im liking 20%

35% is good and legal. 20% is a good grade if you dont mind being illegal.:)

The best qoute i got is from a guy in peno he says 50 bucks to remove and 220 to do the car.

I have 20% and it's fine for the side windows but I wish I got 10% on the rear window. The problem is the rear window doesn't look as dark when the sun shines through the front windscreen. Never had any police/rego problems with 20% either.

You could always look at having the front sides 35% for legality and roadworthy, and have the rear sides and rear much darker, say 10-15%. Doesn't look out of place at all really and its practical and looks good.

HRD2GT's car is living proof it doesn't look silly, 35% on the front sides and 2% on the rear sides and rear, and it still looks awesome. More fun when it was 2% all round, but hey you've gotta be able to see through them lol

Soo what is the darkest u can still see through at night??

On one end of the scale there is good visability, on the other extreme is heat protection

20% is a good middle ground, might be a little hard to reverse at night but worth it for the looks

(mine is a little darker than that)

Which place was that?

I got a quote $240 incl. removal of existing tint. and that was from a place just near the corner of Prestons Street Mugola Rd Penrith....

What ya need to remember is 35% is the darkest legal. It a safe tint and can still be hard to see at nite when there is no street lights. I have 15% on the magna and i cant see a thing out the side windows at nite in a side street. I need to have windows down as you can see anything when you turn into a street. I have been pulled over many times and never had an issue. I have 20% on the pajero and its the same at nite. I wouldnt tell someone to do anything illegal so it comes down to what you want. If you wanna go darker than legal i would suggest only 20%. looks good and you can still see something. you need to remember that you can get a defect and there is a possibility that you could cause or have and accident.

Yeah of course, TF Magna, you need to evaluate all the risks associated with anything under 'legal' 35% tint

I considered pushing it a bit and going for 20% but in the end went for Legal tint.
35% on all side windows and 5% on the rear window.
IMO it looks great. The side windows are legal but look darker because of the rear window.

Reversing can be an 'adventure' at night, but easily fixed by using the side mirrors and hangin' ya head out of the window. Reversing sensors may be a good investment.

I have 35% tint and I'm very happy with it, but if I had my time again, I'd be leaning towards the 20% tint.

With my first car i went the legal 35% It was good but just not quite right. Not dark enough.
I have put 15% on all my other cars since and think its fantastic. And looks alot better.

mine is 10% symond... if i had another choice i would have gone 15 or 20% as 10 is bloody dark and my driveway is a long one to reverse down! haha.. you should check it out sometime see what ya think... the good thing is i can pretty much look at Life's magna with the HIDs on and not be blinded... also works with the sun... though i dont do it, my idiot mate does.

Mine is 5%, cops pulled me up the other night and they didn't care. As long as you aren't being a dick cops won't bother with small things like that. Unless they are in a really bad mood.

A couple of my mates have had to remove theres after a defect, but they had plenty of other defects being turbo cars with front mounts, bov's, lowered and all that jazz.

I reckon if tint was all you had to be defected on they most likely wouldn't bother

iv got 15% all round and i so would never go darker on the back, at night its hard 2 see out of if u have got no street lights, though i would go 10% on the sides if i had my money again

I've got the legal 30% and i find it hard enough to see around the car. I usually wind down the front windows to see properly.

i got 20% all round, was happy with it but want darker. i'm considering on getting 10% on the rear side windows and 5% on the back to make it look much darker (well, hopefully)

i love it when it's an overcast day, coz no one can see inside of my car.. but during very bright and sunny days it's not hard to look into my car :(

Got it done yesterday and was still okay reversing but maybe if u have no street lights could be a bit tricky reversing.

yah i will be ripping the front bar off first that was on the car and finding a new sport kit then lowering and a hole new respray,
I the tint it,s great.before i did it i read the poll and what people thought went down to the tint guy and looked at what he had done and also looked at he,s car where he had 18% done on he's and he was doing a 5% on a commadoor and it looked great so i went with it.
The guy who owned the commadoor said he's mates had it done and in their reversing lights just got brighter globes and some added the reversing camra to their cars.
