Ok, so It is come time for me to replace my fuel pump with a more powerful one. I am currently running a fuel pump from a 3000gt which my uncle installed for me, Now I am putting in a Walbro. I was wondering if I had to drop the fuel tank or if their was an access under the seats. I tried but could not find it and I am on my own for this one.
The car is a 1992 Mitsubishi Diamante LS. 3 liter DOHC automatic because im sure its not called an LS over there.
Not sure if you guys could help me since its a US model but this is the best site out there for that.
Thanks in advance - Will

I dont know the diamantes 100%. in our magnas and veradas, the fuel pump is located on the fuel tank, towards the front of the car, just aft of the rear axle. Now, there's no guarantee that it's the same for the diamantes, as already said.
you can gain access by jacking the rear of the car up and supporting on chassis stands. crawl underneath and you will see it:). It is on the drivers side...
All the best.

Ok thank you, so I can access it without dropping the fuel tank? Thats a relief, I dont mind being under the car but it makes it easier if I dont have to remove the tank. Any walkthroughs for the magnas? That would let me see if they are the same.

I just had mine replaced with a High Flow Walbro unit (drop in no modding needed)
I have already asked for the part number in which my tuner said he didnt know. All he knows is it came off a turbocharged van  but drops right in.
So, nor me or my tuner knows what part number it is to be certain. I would try a distributor of walbro and give them a call, see what they say....
Also, this pump is about twice as big as a standard magna one.

Yeah, I know the pump I have is a fit with slight modding. I just needed to know how to get to it. If you have a fuel pressure gauge, what fuel pressure are you seeing with the new walbro pump? Im hoping to get at least mid 60s.

Mines at about 45-55psi (Im pretty sure cannot remember the exact pressure, going off a SARD gauge)

Ok, I got the tank out, what a pain without a lift. Also managed to bend one of the fuel tank strap studs and break the other and one of my metal fuel lines sprung a tiny leak after being moved around. between fixing all of that and making a custom hole for the fuel pump so the larger pump fit it took me the entire day! lets hope it all works well
