i got a question for the hardcore fans... just kidding, anyone who's done a bit of indepth work on magnas or even helped assemble them.

What i need to know is, are the BMC and booster off a 3rd gen with ABS suitable as the BMC and booster for a 2nd gen?

The story goes, i have a diamante halfcut, that im fitting all the gadgets and pieces from. Im up to the ABS/TCL and with the help of TUFFTR have acquired the relavant parts and wiring BUT after removing the BMC and booster from the ABS diamante i have discovered, the Booster is nigh on rusted through from a leaky BMC. Now i could get this rebuilt/reco'd but that still leave me Booster less. As some might know the ABS BMC has only 2 outlets and mounts horozontal to the booster. Where as the non ABS BMC has an offset mounting plate, so obviously so they cannot be mistaken for each other. The down side is, boosters and BMC's arent interchangable. So i need both.

What i have noticed is that there arent any ABS magnas/veradas at the wreckers BUT the 3rd Gen with ABS has the same outputs (in the same positions) but a slight different design. What i would like to know is can i use the BMC and booster form a 3rd gen? Will the booster mount to the 2nd gen (is the mounting bolt the same spacing) The booster looks marginally smaller, BUT this is not a problem (maybe even a blessing)

For those interested to know, Magnas use PBR booster and BMC where as the dimanates OE is Bendix booster and BMC, slgihtly different design but i reckon are interchangable.

Thanks in advance peoples for any insight you can offer

I've got a KS front cut here without the engine in it. It came with ABS

As far as I know the booster is fine, brakes were fantastic when it was running

If you are interested in the booster/brake assembly let me know mate, happy to help out

argh sweet as, i will have a look at the last of the 4 wreckers near me early this week and if they only have 3rd gen gear, i might be looking your way PETER_PAN

Ill need the booster and BMC, everything else ive got. Let me know a price you can do delivered to 4305 (qld)

As for the car, its coming along nicely considering the facilities i have to work with; far less then ideal. Pics to come this week in my members machines thread. And special pics for TUFFY as requested (hope you like the tan lines....kidding)

Let me know exactly what you are after and I'll sort you out mate, i dont want much for it.

What is the BMC exactly? Is that the reservoir/master cylinder?

yeah mate, BMC = brake master cylinder its the alloy looking dohicky with the resivour on top of it. And the booster is obviously the big black things it is bolted 2.

What type is the KS? Dimanates use Bendix, but im pretty sure magnas use PBR, but they should be interchangable.

IF you can get it off the car, could you check to see the number on the BMC? there will be something like 15/16 or 3/4 or something. Mine is 15/16, and im pretty sure its to do with bore size of the bmc.

Thanks in advance

Postage will be crap aye? They are pretty heavy/awkward things
