nice one. What would be the performance difference between a half cage compared to a full cage? Other than practicality of course

Removing that passenger seat belt would surely increase performance? :)

Saw a happysnap of this car in Hot4's in the Dutton Rally... looked epic

Cheers guys! Was a bit of work but it came up very nice.

lol, I saw that, and FastFours too, they both put a very tail out cornering pic in from Oran, not what they expected from a magna.

Looks good Dan :)

details? cost? what grade of metal? how much does it weigh? Are you expecting it make any tangible difference in how the car drives on the track?

It's from Bond Roll Bars, about $800 RRP with harness bar, all proper seamless tube to CAMS specs. I think it weighs about 30kgs will check that next time I unbolt it. I don't think it made much difference performance wise, I pulled out 25kg of sound deadener to counteract the extra weight.

I did go to wakefield today, got a total of 3 laps in the dry(ish) with fuel surge unfortunately, had to come back in for fuel, did a 1:12.1 though, didn't crack the 1:11's...

2nd timed session it was raining, had the wipers on medium and but still managed a 1:14.1.

I did back the swaybar off to medium before the event and the back of the car was much more stable.

reminds me i must drop my swaybar down the med, hard is just too unpredictable in the wet

I did the same thing for my last outing since I had street tyres on the rear again, and it was still quite taily on turn-in, but more progressive. Though I also dialed in some toe-in the rear at the same time, so I'm not sure what the effect of backing off the swaybar is on its own. Looking forward to having some proper tyres on the rear next time :p

No doubt you'll dip into the 11's soon enough :) I'm hoping to dip into the 12's sooner or later with more improvement in my driving and setup...I feel there's some more improvement to be had from the 13's I did recently

What sort of suspension are you running? IMO unless you are running big spring rates in the rear (300+lbs), the magnas need every bit of extra roll resistance in the rear.

I found with King Lows and the whiteline bar on stiffest it was still very much an understeerer

nice times Dan, especially in the rain.

I got my cage yesterday, had to get it couriered to work as i had no time to go out and pick it up.
It will be a while till i fit mine as the car won't be ready for track stuff till next year.
And wook, they sent me another set of bolts so dont worry about the 3rd set that you "stole"

KYB Excel G shocks with King Low springs, all off-the-shelf stuff. I think part of the problem lies in the shocking tyres on the rear. It is faaaar from understeery even in dry conditions. Back wants to skip out all the time. On the last cruise towards wollongong I had a scary oversteer moment and now endeavour to drive a few notches lower. I suspect with decent rubber the thing will be more compliant

Do they do a full cage ?

Do they do a full cage ?

sure. call 'em up and ask how much. http://www.bondrollbars.com/

we didn't get a fitting for it though, so they'd likely have to get a magna to measure it all up.

cheers,

Nice quote wookie, I have a jacket and pants that still smell like old gearbox oil after the manual conversion over a year ago. That stuff is nasty.
