Hey guys,
Just noticed at full throttle my car was flaring between gear changes. Did it for a bit then stopped. Just wondering if I should get a fluid flush or not? Or could it just be the computers having a fit?

How many km has the car done.? It will most probably be a flush

Check the oil quality, if it's not red/pink, flush it with genuine Mitsubishi transmission fluid.

Needs a good flush mate. Tell them to reset the computar aswell by disconnecting the battey terminals.

I wouldn't recommend a flush, i had heard alot of horror story with high mileage or dirty transmission that a flush would dislodge so much dirt/deposit that it killed the tranny pretty quick. Just do a frequent drain and top up will do, I'm doing mine every 10k for the next 30k or until the ATF fluid cleared.

I've heard about this too, particularly in Ford AU's, something about the clutch plates wearing and if the oil is dropped the gearbox dies pretty quickly
In that case just drop the oil, and keep the old oil just in case

No, just drain the old ATF out(thru drain plug) and refilled with new ATF thru the dip stick hole will do. It takes about 4L worth of ATF, i would recommend those fully syn that meet Mitsubishi SP III spec.

This is definitely not good advice for our Mitsubishi transmissions. These transmissions hold a lot of oil in the clutch packs and torque convertor. If the oil in these places is old and soiled, and you top it up with new oil, you are not fixing anything, only keeping the same problems due to the old oil which isn't doing its job anymore.
The proper way with these transmissions is to do a full flush to get rid of all the old oil and get new oil into the clutch packs and torque convertor.
I wouldn't recommend any other transmission fluid than Mitsubishi transmission fluid bought from Mitsubishi. 99.9% of people on this forum will say the same thing.

I have a close friend who own a workshop and the reason why he recommend full ATF machine flush is because that gave him the most margin, that all. No problem with low mileage tranny but he wouldn't recommend doing it on high mileage or dirty tranny either as he had encounter a few tranny failure after doing the flush, he would advice the customers about this issue but if the customer insist, that's their choice.
As for choices of fluid, that's personal preferences. Like engine oil, I personally would prefer fully syn than the stock mineral Mitsubishi stuffs.

I think I will just go with a full flush. I went and bought the atf recommended by mitsubishi so i'll do that in the next couple of days and see if its improved

Man I am so sick of my semi not shifting when I want it to
its getting a flush with the tranny cooler
going to get a PWR gen purpose cooler and see how it goes
Now just going to research a fully SYN suitable for the INVECS II
