is your car a 2.4L 4 cylinder? 4g64? if so job could be done

dunno if it would bolt straight in.. but... evo guys use the 4g64 in evo's so dont see why the reverse couldnt be done

also, someone (whos post is now deleted) mentioned magnas weigh 1600kg and is to much weight for the evo engine.. incorrect.. 7/8/9 evo's weigh nearly exactly the same as a 3rd gen magna (14xx kg).. so weight is not an issue

Welcome to the club mate.

First of all to those clowns that think the comments are funny, they are not, this is not the members lounge spam session so if you are not going to be constructive, dont post, not hard really.

Now, I do know of a guy who used the Magna block in his Evo when he cracked a block and could not find the correct one, apparently everything bolted straight in and he now runs the Evo as a 2.4

This having been said, I would then assume that the reverse could be true in so far as the mechanical bolt in although you are talking a much heavier car here. You would also want to run aftermarket engine management or that off the Evo as well

Would be an interesting conversion to be honest and could make a fun car out of what is generally a family car

Evo VI to IX weigh between 1250 and 1490 kgs, progressively (depending on trim levels of course, the 1250 kgs is the VI RS "stripped down" version).
3rd Gen magna weighs around 1400kgs.
Now I don't think that is bad matchup weight-wise...

evo 7/8/9........ Kerb Weight (kg) = 1470
1998 Mitsubishi Magna Executive TF 2.4L ....... Kerb Weight (kg) = 1436

magna is lighter mal ... believe it or not..

ct9a evo's arent light at all.. cp9a (evo 5,6) are lighter but not a great deal..

i reckon this would be a nice conversion....

Yeah, FWD as opposed to AWD makes a helluva difference doesn't it.

FWD would be interesting trying to get the power down! i think a TT 6g72 conversion would be much smarter and more cost effective

Was not aware that the Evo was such a heavy dog lol. Always thought these things were such nimble little things

The engines I believe are the proper way round in the later models, have to be if someone down here has use the 2.4 block in an Evo

wouldnt you need an AWD gearbox to match the engine?
was gonna say look into a GSR motor but its around the wrong way

Evo IV onwards the engine was rotated 180 degrees, putting the air intake on the passenger side of the car and the timing case on the drivers side (if that makes any sense)

yes.. exactly like a 3rd gen 2.4L magna..

evo 4 onwards is the same orientation as 3rd gen 2.4L magna

Yes, AWD makes a big difference.

My TJ AWD is over 1600kg.

traction shouldn't be too much of a problem - I've seen Nissan Pulsar Gti-R motors put into FWD pulsars. Sure, put your foot down and get wheel spin or massive torque steer, but if you don't put your foot down, it drives well enough to go to the shops and back. iirc, Gti-R had more power than WRX + EVO engines.

Sorry guys i should of put more info.
My car is a 1998 Mitsubishi Magna Executive TF 2.4L
I brought this car thru ebay never done up a magna before but my bro has been doing up torana,s all he,s life,i did do up a lj when i was young.
I got ripped of on the magna so i thought i would make a good thing out of a bad thing so i will be trying to do it up.
I,m not that mechanicly minded so i let my bro do all the work but one of he,s mates suggested an evo turbo motor,i did,t know if it could be done or not.
I was just going to chuck in a v6 magna motor and try and get a twin turbo kit that suits or super charger.
But as i said this is a project that will be happening.
I just got a blue slip for it and will be doing some body mods first.i was even thinking of putting it back to standed looking and then do the motor so not to attract the cops just on looks.
here,s some pics

I always wondered how good that bar would look on a magna, I quite like it :)

i would suggest exactly what your already thinking

infact.. go one step better...

leave your 2.4L block and build a 2.4L evo engine using your 2.4L block.. will be very nice

as already mentioned evo guys take your block and build up 2.4L engines for there evo's so you can do the same thing but for your magna...

easy to get power out of evo engines as there is bolt on stuff everywhere for them....

Dude sick looking car! I reckon do what Gremlin said, would be a very unique ride. Love that front bar on your car, always wondered about it too, only thing i would change would be deleting the vents either side of the number plate but apart from that very nice
