View Full Version : Front windscreen bezel problem
Hey all,
Was washing my car a while ago and noticed that the bezel (ruber strip at the bottom) of the front windscreen had bits missing. Upon further investigation I noticed that they were crumbling upon touching (it felt like 50 year old erasers, dry and brittle). So had my car serviced yesterday for its 75K km service and got it replaced under warranty. Its apparently a known problem. Anyone else had this problem?

Yes, same problem with current and previous TL, bits missing and faded. Complements the wiper blades that have lost their black paint. I'd get it replaced... but I fear the cost.

My TL AWD VRX is doing the same. I'm going to get mine replaced under warrenty when I get some leave from work and get back to SA. Boy do I miss driving my car..... Also my boot spoiler is faded quite severely. I know this was a problem that MMAL had with some of the TJ VRX series. Might see if I can get my spoiler re-sprayed or replaced as well under warranty.

Yep same problem as you mate. Looks like it's a common problem since that a lot has said to have the same issue.
I just went to Mitsu dealer and bought the driver and pax side plastic cover that has the rubber moulded onto it. Theres a cheap option of replacing the rubber bits by buying rubber tubes from Clark Rubber and manually fixing it.

Hope this is the problem that your talking about and hope it helps.

when ya get a new one sikaflex it on to the windscreen and you shouldn't have any issues after that ( unless you need your windscreen replaced)

Refer to Parts List Thread - think these are called "scuttle panels", but the Part Number and approx price is listed.

Yeah, I have heard them described as plenum covers but I think they are listed as a ???? garnish in the mitsi documentation.

when ya get a new one sikaflex it on to the windscreen and you shouldn't have any issues after that ( unless you need your windscreen replaced)it shouldn't be too great an issue, the same blades they use to cut your windscreen out can be used to slice through the Sikaflex. Sikaflex will bond to itself no problem, so a quick wipe on both surfaces that were cut, bit more Sikaflex and good as done.
