hi i have a ts 4cyl exec on the road along with three ks and krs' sittin in my front yard. i have recently done the climate control conversion and crudely hooked up my two front power windows, installed the back ones but havent got that far yet. im just about to replace the engine relay box, loom to inside fusebox and loom across dash to pass door so i can do the verada thing inside and finish what i started.

i notice the etacs unit on the verada or elite loom connects into the locks power windows interior lights. im not worried about the install, all my research and what i can see its pretty much plug and play for that loom my question is, does etacs cause problems? or am i better off pulling a loom out of a SE (without etacs) at the wreckers?

I havent heard if it causing a problem. Even if it does, its only one easily accessible computer to replace.
In the middle of doing a full loom swap too.

just a question to verada owners with etacs does it do anything if you dont have a remote or is it useless. and does anyone know if there is a dif between a ks ei ,xi loom (because i can pull the loom out of both but xi was water damaged to about the pedal level) except for the drivers chair, id imagine not? exec loom ,se loom verada\elite loom, .d for povo, p for premium and x for top line on the vin plate.

etacs still works without a remote mate!

ei and xi loom....cannot think of anything that would be different....all had abc...p/w...cruise...cc....probably just the remote central locking that would be different?

if one was water damaged buy some terminal spray to clean out the connections

My KR had the ETACS and had no issues, the only thing I hated was the KR had the Infra Red remotes which meant you had to point them at the door to get them to work

i know etacs is a alarm but from what i can work out from the wiring diagram it will only work when people smash your window and pull the lock up or when the bonnet switch is activated, just wonderin if anyone can explain the full benifits of etacs what i said might be totally wrong i was just havin a guess at the wirin diagram

ETACS is just for your interior lights? I thought the factory alarm takes care of that stuff

Etacs controls part of the alarm i think

I don't know heaps about the system but I know it controls things like dimming/fading lights and also lets you use the windows 30 secs after the car is off.

Have a good read of the manual, yes it will work without the remote, and you can arm the alarm from the drivers central locking switch with the key ('security' light will come on in the dash')

Correct, it will only activate the alarm if you have it armed and someone opens a door, the boot, or the bonnet
