I'm thinking about buying a wrecked 380 to plunder the engine and brakes, whatever else I want, and parting out the rest. Anyone seen them go at auction? I know it varies depending on how many of the panels are borked.

I know there is a S3 VRX at Eddie wreckers, I think most of the good bits are still there

Mmm, and how much would they want for the engine (alone - don't need anything bar the short engine and heads) and rotors, calipers, pads and possibly lines? Guessing it would be a LOT.

I dunno, but they maybe able to do a package for you. My guess...knowing eddie wreckers, probably around $3500-4000 mark?

(!)
I'll ring them for to find out, for a joke...
... $1850 for an engine, no price on brakes, told me to call back tomorrow. Somewhat irrelevant, but you can get WRX half cuts for that price.

The 6g75 engine will go very nice in a lighter car, lots of low down torque compared to the 6g74. Do you have an auto or manual? Should be pretty much a bolt up job I would think.

Manual. From what I've been told, take a 6G75 block, internals, heads, and bolt on everything else from a 6G74. With breathing mods and tune, 170kW ATW should be achievable, given Foozrcool made 163 with an auto.

I think I have heard that the 380 has the same brakes as the AWD Magna? That might be a cheaper option?

380, AWD Magna, Ralliart Magna, Evo 4, all essentially the same. It's just a matter of where you find them.
