Gday all!

I'm probably asking a serious noob question, but how exactly do you install a new head unit into a TF 2003 Magna?

There is currently a aftermarket headunit in there, but I really dont like because its a cheapo, so I'd like to install my trusty Pioneer DEH-4050.

I went down to autobarn to ask if I could buy those thin clips that the manual said you need to remove the unit, but it was useless. The technition suggested that I need to remove the dash because its skrewed in or let them do it for a $88.

I'm really tight on money, (just bought this beautiful car), so I'd prefer not to spend the $88. Is is true that you have to completely remove the dash? I tried looking through the sticky posts, but its only talking about the 2nd gen, and i've got the 3rd gen. Is there an easier way, because if I have to remove the dash I'll need a few hours for sure.

Thanks for patience with my noob question!

Regards,
TheKovac

Great! Yeah I found that guide, I was wondering if that process was needed to undertake to remove the headunit. I guess I will need too remove the console and all. Sure hope I don't break anything!

Thanks guys for the post I really appreciate the assistance. Its pretty much confirmed what I originally thought.

That wiring guide should come in handy if the current Sony xplod unit has dodgy wiring.

On a side note - what do we think of a Pioneer 4050 unit? Is it decent enough to use with a full sound system? I'm planning to install dual subs in the back and a component system.
