Ok, so my question is anyone running these as there driving lights. I got myself a set today, their full details are "Narva: Ultra Blue, H4 12V 60/55W P/No. 48482BL2". They are for a TJ with standard headlights.

:tired: Problems?

:hmm: Looks?

:eh: Function?

If you are hapy to trade lumens (light output) for white/blue light and better reflections from cats eyes and road signs etc, then they are for you, they will have less output than a standard 60/55 watt H4 globe you must remember, but a whiter/bluer light, depends wha you want to do with your lights really

Too late when you've already bought them.

Its never too late if you haven't opened them yet, you can always exchange them for another set, if they were bought from a shop. Either way, do a search for my post on Narva bulbs I ended up getting. The ones I got are not as white (20% whiter) but are 80% brighter than standard. THey definitely make a big difference. On the topic of lights, I noticed that our Outlander's para headlights has a nice even spread of light, no bright/dark spots compared with the verada parabolics.

Edit: here is the post (http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=68860&highlight=narva).

I've always used Narna Arctic Blue in all my cars. Better light output and look whiter than the standard yellow bulbs.

I think the light output is 33-50% lower, as for the cost they where $84 from Repco that’s probably over priced tho.

Still if anyone knows what the normal blubs put out that would be great to know.

I got the Arctic Blue all round and really like them. They only last about 18months though.

Edit: Corrected to the globe type...

I used to have them, And they actually turned from white back to yellow...

Because i'm not using parras with my narva blues, they light output is actually pretty good!
the looks you get at night when you pull into a carpark or something are pretty hillarious, people come up and ask you if your using HID's rofl

When i bought my SS a couple months ago i was going to get Narva Arctic Blue (more white than blue) like i've always done in the past. But then i heard about Narva Ultra Blue. Did some research and found that most people have had bad experiences with them. So went with Narva Arctic Blue again.

A standard H4 puts out 1100-1500 lumens approx for a 60/55w and would be about 3200 kelvins

H4 60/55W Arctic Blue is 4000K and Ultra Blue is 5000K

I've been using the Arctic Blues for 8 years & find they provide enhanced vision over standard globes (in 2nd vehicle). As luck would have it ... I was at our local Repco yesterday & they have a display stand with all the Narva models - push the buttons & they light up.

Here's the specs I recall:

Ultra Blue 1200 lumens, Arctic Blue 1600 lumens, Blue Power 2000 lumens

They claim "Blue Power" delivers '20% More Light & 100% More Vision'. The colour they throw is about half way between a standard QH globe & arctic blue.

I wouldn't mind giving them a try but they're about $70 a pair so I'll be waiting until my Arctic Blues die.

That's my two pesos worth.

Cheers
John

If you are using standard lights I wouldnt waste the money. For parras they will look better.

For performance is not that great.

What are the platinum's like? Do they discolour the plastic TL headlights?

I have blue power and its 20% whiter and 80% more light. Narva don't actually make these bulbs. The Blue Power is an Osram Night Breaker rebadged.

I know this is about the Narva globes, but I'm using Philips X-treme power globes in my second gen and they are great.

They claim 80% more light output and 25m longer beam, and I am definately happy with them, well worth the money.
They aren't blue though, they are more of a standard yellow light. So they don't have as much 'ricer appeal', but seeing as most of my driving is on lonely country roads, I'd like to be able to see more.

I had Blue Power's fitted to my 380 and they were good - brighter and whiter as described. Will be fitting them to my Magna shortly. IMO a worthy upgrade.
