I did a quick search but couldnt really find anything,
as of late, when ever i turn on the parkers or headlights the dash/climate control/speed alert dims, but it dims so much it almost is unreadable,.
has any one else had this issue?
could it be a poor battery issue? as I now have an amp installed?

Could be a stupid question but is your dimmer turned down?

A couple of things for you to check.
1. The bright/dim controller may have shat itself.
2. Some kind of earth problem.
3. An incorrect wire somewhere on your HU
Did you upgrade the HU when you fitted the amp? Try disconnecting the amp power and see if this fixes the problem. Check where you took the amps switching power from as sometimes this can cause a problem especially if your hu doesnt have a remote power feed. Some cars have a feed in the loom to light up the original hu and this feeds all your other dash lights as well. Its not designed to be used as a remote power feed and will give the symptoms you have.
Cheers

the same thing happend to me buddy, when ever i would turn my lights on all my lights inside would dim, that happend after i anstalled my 3000 watt amp, turns out my altenator and battery was done for and needed replaceing. it was like when i turned the lights on it was like it was sucking power to power the lights i hope this helps.

Im thinking this may be the issue because im pretty sure it didnt happen instantly after i installed the amp
the only wire i touched behing the HU was the remote wire so i dont think its anything there

ummmm....
you have a 3g Rada with the high contrast dash?
assuming its the same basic idea as KL high contrast dash - during the day (no lights on) the dash wont dim via dimmer, only when you turn the headlights on, will you be able to adjust the brightness..

You should have 2 dimmers
1st one works only when the lights are off. When you press the dimmer button it dims slightly to a preset level. Press it again and it goes back to full brightness.
2nd one works when the lights are on. This is the horizontal scroll wheel which lets you set the dimness/brightness to the level you desire.
EDIT:
Check out the following pic:

1st one is the button to the right of the ODO/TRIP button
2nd one is the wheel to the left of the TCL button

Ah - as per Mohit, KL cluster is different - i dont have the extra dimmer switch / adjuster in my cluster.
sorry!
at least its working now - things you learnt today about your car!

hahaha that's excellent, very funny :D exactly the same thing happened to me, i was changing the fascia of a friend's cluster in his car, put the cluster back into the car and it was so dim and unreadable... we thought we did sometihng wrong, or that he got a cheap copy. took it out twice more, took the globes out, even went for a drive to supercheap to get new globes (luckily they were closed) then his mum made the suggestion that the dimmer was turned down... surely not we thought
lol :(

Hot tip,
Useing the Scroll wheel dimmer thing, leave it in the almost fully right position (There will be a click point when you move the wheel) This position, when the headlights are turned on, will automatically dim the high contrast dash (but not the other switches)for night driving. But during the day, it will remain fully bright.
Otherwise, the High Contrast cluster will remain at full (retina burning) brightness at all times.
