I finally started my boot install last night.
It's nothing extravagant, just was inspired by one i saw on here.

So i started it last night (the 23rd of July) with purchasing the wood.
1 x Plywood 1200mmx19000mmx12mm
2 x Pine Short Pieces 70mmx35mmx900mm
8 x Pine Dressing Pieces 42mmx19mmx1.2m
Screws and Liquid Nails
Carpet from Bunnings

I will be mounting my 100watt Pioneer 10" sub with my Boss BA-6000 1400watt amp.

WHAT I LEARNT
That it's quiet difficult to do carpeting first time around, but i got the job done
Liquid nails sucks a-hole
When you dont draw up visual plans it can still work out well!

You did alright there for a quick boot install....may i suggest, use MDF....thicker MDF...as that ply will rattle

and upgrade from a 100w pioneer and boos amp:P

1)It will with a decent sub there
2) you will build one when you design one. righteo dude :bowrofl: if you ran it hard you'd blow that sub up. You need a box for the sub to be in dude.

I can tell you that poor little foam surround isn't going to like being stressed like that very much... And you might want to put a grille over it to stop any wayward items falling on it.

not bad for a quick install, but seriously man i would be building a box for that sub as its not designed to run in free air
once you make a proper sized box for the sub you'll notice a BIG difference
also plywood is fine to use when making a sub box, but it has to be a minimum of 18mm, marine ply is the way to go when it comes to ply ;)

yeah a guy at work said to use marine plywood. so i will have to remove my spare wheel (which is 2inches smaller than my rims) but thats fine, i have RACV lol.

does it matter how big the box is for the sub? like is it the bigger the better? and ill try and get some no gap to make sure the box is air tight :)

bunnings should sell marine ply yeah?

last time i went looking for plywood at bunnings they only had the stuff you've used
best bet would be to try a timber place (place that sells just timber)

box size really depends on the recommended internal volume for your sub
this is normally found in the user's manual or you should be able to find it on the web
then you'll need to find a calculator that tells you the inside volume of a box (can also be found online)

ahhh thanks mann ill have a look on the net :) i dont have the manual anymore haha :)
ill have a look at bowens, or google for another timber shop. there is one up in FTG but i think its more for just builders like big timber haha! :)

thanks mate :) appreciate your help

;1088128']and upgrade from a 100w pioneer and boos amp:P
150w sub and it'll take a lot more. Would happily run 250-300, but that's in a sealed box. My bet is that thing would bottom out like a mofo when you crank it IB mounted. Make yourself a sealed box to run that in.

I do miss my old one of these sub's actually, it provided a good fill and they're more responsive than a lot of more expensive subs I've heard, just doesn't shake the buggery out of the car like some people want.

You should put dynamat before adding the sub.

Good job on the install mate looks clean. A shame that you didn't know about needing to enclose the sub but hey that's how you learn! You've kickstarted me into doing my install now.
