just posting this in case anyone is interested, it shows the two cam profiles on the mivec 3l cams (diamante 30M) quite alot more lift when on the second lobe.
also shows the two rockers, although it was hard to see how they locked together when the engine hit the right rpm. was taken apart by someone else so not sure what else was removed.

the mivec system is a lot more complex than say a vtec system. The mivec has been mirrored by nissan with there sr16ve and 20ve heads. There are a lot of these engines at my local import yard, but no one seems to want to do the swap in out 3rd gens.

yeah if i had the money and time i would buy the motor and box plus ECU and put it after a rebuild. thats a fairly cost effedtive way to get 199kw in your car. i do love the 3.5 sohc though, id love to put the mivec heads on the 3.5 block, and a mivec controller to adjust where you want it kicking in for perfect power.

as found with the nissan heads, the stock unit is designed to make the small capacity as torquey as possible. Even with the 3.5bottem end the heads would need very little tampering if any to get the best results. Delaying the mivec system, just makes the switch over more pronouced and switching early would give youa doughy middle end and a rush up top. As for the cheap upgrade (relative) power upgrade its the best bang for buck mod by far.
