Can someone give me a step by step guide to bypassing the heater core? I've had a look in the engine bay and think I've found the two pipes up the top near the passenger side, but from there I have no idea and the other threads I searched through didn't provide much detail.
Greatly appreciated.

K, disconnect both hoses from heater core. remove one whole hose. with remaining hose, loop around to where 1st hose begun....

Can I do that from the engine bay or do I need to get in under the glove box to do this?

Do it from the engine bay mate, just loop the hoses back to each other WITHOUT kinking them as if they are kinked they can pop

Thats what i did at the weekend. Use the longer of the 2 hoses to wrap around on itself to connect to the outlet of the other hose. It gets twisted a bit but not enough to cut the flow. The other hose I connected to the inlet and outlet to the heater core to stop any crap getting in there....

WHY ??? cos its a PITA to fix.... hardly ever gets that cold to need the heater in Perth anyway.....
Actually your right though, it is pure laziness. I will get round to it eventually but for now, need the car right now.....

Have you tried a bottle of Stop Leak ? Stopped my heater core leaking so I can still have heat on cold mornings

I've heard that it can cause other problems.... like bunging up the thermostat etc so stayed away from that....
I'm happy with no heater........ I don't drive it anyway. Its the wifes car !!!!!!!!!

In an equally useful post I will state:

I was skeptical too, but I put in a bottle of stop leak, the leak cleared up and it's been over 2 years now.

you wont have to take the dash out. my brother worked at mitsu and i not to sure what models you can and cant but the tj doesnt need dash removal.
