Just a quick check on this, In 96 TE's are the front speakers closer to 6" or 6.5" ? I've heard a few people having problems with getting their speakers in, and I really don't want to have to go and make pods for them (Too lazy  ) What size speaker will actually mount there?

who built pods?? definitaly not in a magna - unless of course they were fitting 8" subs in the doors - which i have seen believe it or not!! crazy stuff - but that was in an AU falcon.

Did you guys notice a big improvement by replacing the stock speakers with splits?

Im running pioneer 6x9's compression horns, i sold the older 3 way designs and they are awesome and im using the stock front speakers. Im happy with the sound but wanted to know if there is much of a difference.

When I went from stock speakers to splits it was like I was transported to another world!

A world where sound is CLEAR! and CRISP :)

And..

LOUD!

hehee

I have Jaycar Response 6.5" Kevlar Splits...they're really good value for money.

I can imagine the Difference on a TR / TS and the stock sound system in my old TS was a joke.

But in the TE it isn't tooo bad. I might just get some lower end pioneers.

Ahh, I was going to fit a pair of Hertz HSK-165 splits.. I'll tell you how it goes if it ever gets in, but it could take ages.. I mean ages... I'm still trying to save for a new headunit :(

I'm running Alpine 6.5" splits in the standard doors, fits no probs. If you got a shallow 8" I think you could make it fit :)

Mmm, I took a look at the BA Rally series, but they're far too expensive for me... Maybe when I win the lottery or something =P Decided to settle with the Hertz splits now... then again, give me a little longer and I'll probably change my mind again.. =P

i had the boston accoustic - boston rally range RC-620's in mine - cost about 550 - but the difference was huge - especially after the first week - you have to let your speakers soften - before blasting them or else you will warp them!!!!

I've got custom made internal speaker mounts for my Magna. Speakers are 6.5" Boston Pro Series. The stock POS speakers sound very very crap in comparsion.

The stereo shop pulled out the plastic mounts, and made some stronger MDF mount up, sound deaden the door, then mounted the speaker on that. Looking at the door normally, you'd never know the difference - so Mr Car Theif won't know either :p

I have a question guys where do feet your tweeters ?

If I already have Pioneer 3way speakers at the back will it make big difference if I install splits at the front ?

And which front speakers should I buy so that installers can feet them without any problem 6" or 6.5" ?

font speakers are the easiest to change out - you could probably tackle the job yourself!!

i have my tweeters mounted near the base of the A pillar - which is the bit of plastic on the edges of the windscreen!!

6.5" fit fine for round speakers - but if the speakers have a square fit metal bracket then 6" fit.

Hi Everyone,

I am having some trouble getting the window winders of the front door of of my 98 TF Executive. I've bought a set of Clarion 6" speakers.

Does anyone have any tips for getting the bastards off. There driving me insane!!!

Cheers
Damian

Pull them out a little (not too hard) until you can see the clip, then flick it off with a screwdriver. Careful where you flick it.
I find this works better than trying to force a rag in.

Sounds alot like my journey of car audio over the years. I think i might write up a story of my sound journey one day when AMC is slow :P.

lol blake, "Is there much difference replacing the front speakers?"...That is funny, my how much we've all learnt!
