View Full Version : Ralliart Steering Wheel Questions

I am considering getting a Ralliart steering wheel, but have a couple of questions about them:
1. Are they available with different coloured leather? (disregarding the red portion obviously). The pics I have seen make it hard to see if they are black or dark grey. Just want to make sure my airbag is a match for the colour.
2. Do they all have the mounting point to have the standard cruise control fitted?
3. Is there anything else I should consider before purchasing one?
Thanks for any assistance.

1. Re-dye the red to whatever colour you want
2. Cruise fits the same as your old wheel.
3. Feels awesome to drive with......go on, get it!!!!

They are black/red - a good match for the standard airbag and plastic shroud on the back of the wheel (between wheel and cluster).
That shroud and the cruise stalk just screw onto threads tapped in the alloy casting of the Ralliart Wheel.
I agree they are a pleasant tiller to steer by. Red seems a bit 'in-your-face' at first - but that just encouraged me to rice-up my interior with more red!!

Thanks guys,
So I guess my dark grey airbag is going to look like crap on a black and red wheel?

The ralliart wheels don't look too outta place in a stock interior, and the airbag covers matches fairly well, just in photos it looks like it doesn't and the red looks brighter:

The red wheel also matches the red dial font in the Sports/VRX models.

Each to their own. I don't mind the red dominance actually but as long as you are happy that is the main thing. Good to see something out of the ordinary also.
Anyway, still confused over the colours. Is the wheel definately black and red? Looks dark greyish in some photos.

Its quite red, on photos its looks dull. Black on the other hand is not black black. IMO it wont look out of place.

Holy Crap Andrei - THAT'S red !!
I dyed a pleather console lid from the Mitsi Clearance with red shoe dye - it came out super-glossy and bright (bit like the fetish stuff you might see in Amsterdam)... so its a bit fail. Then I added rice to my rice by spending all of $9-95 on a red/chrome gearshift knob from a cheap shop. Not to be deterred, I have put red bulbs in footwells and glovebox, and only today have changed the backlight in my Climate unit into red T4 neo-wedge and T5 neo-wedge LED's - Oh, and the red LED T5 in the ign key lamp. Red facecloth hiding the Ipod Classic in my console (hi-tech theft deterrent) and red fluffy blanky folded on rear seat. OH, also a red First-Aid kit velcroed to transmission tunnel in back floor.
Getting back to OP, I'd go for the Ralliart wheel if you get a good deal. If the black/grey really concerns you, you'd have the options of dyeing the wheel to match bag, or dyeing the airbag cover to black (probably more foolproof). I used a shoe dye (also bought black) but its VERY shiny - 'Patent Leather" shiny - its a fail. There is plastic/vinyl spray cans for another option - one I have tried gave a very flat appearance, am sure my brother used a better brand on a truck and it looked quite good. You could always score a black coloured airbag unit from wreckers or e-bay too.

I got mine professionally stripped, dyed and resealed. Had it done for about a year now. Stil looks as good as the day it was done. Cost me about $100 to get done.

The KL/W GTVi came out with a very similar wheel, had the same perforated inserts for the 10 and 2 position but not the insert on the bottom and came in dark grey leather all over.
Though good luck finding one. They cost a fortune from Mitsu

Meh... I'm used to it I guess, was a bit WOW! when I got it on at first, but it grows on ya, and so much better than the stock plastic wheel.

Nothing classier than the red leather interior of an old 1960's Series 2 Jag and other classics - it is a tried and tested colour combo but not for everyone.
