Hey Guys!

i was just after some input/recommendations for some speakers for the front of my car, i dont mind if they are splits or not.... but would prefer just normal 2/3-way speakers as im not going after a high quality full on system

The speakers will be powered by a mid-range Pioneer head deck... without amps.

my price range is anything BELOW $200 but would like to spend around $150 ish, now i no that i could spend more... but these speakers will not be getting thrashed, and they are only replacing the old stockies..

ive been looking at a few on www.ryda.com.au

and can we please not turn this into a brand thrashing thread like all the rest.

Go out and audition some mate. I could recommend speakers all day but you may not like the sound. Personally I would go with a nice 2 way coaxial for your budget and no amp, something like the Boston S65 2 ways would suit me. All depends on if you do intend to upgrade in the future or not....

For that budget, I personally like Clarion coax speakers. They have a lot of low end (more so than my high end speakers) and sound rather nice for $150 or thereabouts.

Personally the bostons lack low end....but thats me (yes I have auditioned last year for a friend)

Ers the wiggles don't count as auditioning lol

But yes the Bostons have more a kick 80-90Hz, than bass from the woofer. I know the bug will bite, soon he will be asking about 6x9s, then amps and sub... this is unfortunately addictive. :ninja:

Hmmm brand bashing... where do I start :D:D

A popular choice for the budget you are looking at is the Kevlar (yellow cone) Response series (from Jaycar). Sound very nice for the price and will run unamped. I have installed a few of these for friends in a similar position to you and they are quite happy.

I have heard the Bostons Mr Charisma is speaking of and they are a good choice.

Another website to check out which has good specials quite often is http://www.fhrxstudios.com I have bought most of my gear from Marty there. Postage rates are good and quick. He is also a wealth of information, more than happy to help you if you give him a ring.
