Hi All,

I have been trying to fold down the back seats of my Mitsubishi Solara TJ 2000
I cant find a thing to press anywhere that allows you to do it.. On all my previous cars there has been a clip or a button.. but i cant seem to find it on this car?

Is there a way to fold the back seats down?

On a sedan - nope. Only the ski hutch in the middle. Not sure about a wagon.

Yeah i own a sedan.. that ski hutch thing is pretty nice idea.. but yeah lol.

At the moment I'm trying to fold the seats down so i can get the carpet from underneath it that way i can change the rear speakers... How has everyone else changed them?

there are two tabs on the bottom half that u pull out to release the bottom but then 3 bolts to take the rear section off when the 3 bolts are off two ether side and one in the middle the rear should slide up and off hope that helps

Yep - as per Hypermagna....

The rear seat base/cushion has clips either side of the transmission tunnel. Pull clips, and rear seat base should lift out, hinge the front upwards and detach the rear from under the backrest cushion.

The backrest cushion is secured by three bolts through metal loops - these are either 10mm or 12mm if memory serves me correctly. When these bolts are undone, lift the rear seat backrest cushion straight upwards, you need to slide a rod out of a retaining bracket - once you get it out you'll better understand how it attaches.

The parcel shelf carpet is attached by a few screws etc.

BUT: If you want to change rear 6x9 Speakers, you probably don't have the do all this! Undo the speaker grilles by undoing three 10mm nuts in the boot - the fourth corner of the grilles has a clip which slips under the parcel shelf matting. When nuts undone, pull the bolts up from inside the car, then pull the speaker grille away from the fourth corner with the clip. You can then access the screws holding the 6x9 speakers into the parcel shelf - access from the top, inside the car. There is very little room against the window glass to get at the screws, buut one idea is to use a 1/4" ratchet and small socket to hold a Philips head screwdriver bit.
