so it's come time for my tr to get some suspension work, I'm looking for opinions on what the best performance based suspension combos are, not worried about ride quality. is there any coilover kits for second gens? i've been toying with the idea of getting a cheap set of front s13 coilovers and modding them to fit.

coilovers are aparently better than the normal combo.

with suspension components though OP, i wouldnt go buying something then modding it to fit. just think, your suspension is your connection to your wheels. if something goes wrong, you will have no control over the car and most likely crash. so safety is paramount in suspension dept.

also, they DO make coilover kits for 2nd gen, (so im told), so sus that out. :)

Supposedly coilovers for 3rd gens could go in with a bit of work, iirc the rears are easier but the fronts may cause probs. PM 86_Elite he was buying some for his TR i think

Seems like the most common setup is either KYB or Koni shocks, King springs or lovels, and whiteline or selby swaybars.

I have a rough idea of what I'd like to do with my suspension (TR Elite, sedan) It was lowered by the previous owner and it's HORRIBLE, the ride height is fine but it's WAAY too soft.

Later on down the track when I can save the $$$ for it, this is the basic idea of what I'd like to do: King spring lows on KYB shocks (or maybe even coilovers), Selby swaybars and Nolathane bushes, also front and rear strut braces if I can get them (does whiteline or anyone else make strut braces for second gens??)

I know it would cost more than the car is worth, but if you love your car and plan to keep it, then it's worth it. And i want my suspension to be nice and solid. With my suspension as soft and sloppy as it is now, it's first on the priority list before I even think of looking for more power..

Airbags may save lives.. But upgrading your handling/braking may avoid the accident in the first place

the whole modding to fit thing is easy enough, all i'd have to do is measure up the two holes on the hub and drill the coilovers to match, then match up the holes for the top of the strut, there isn't really anything that can go wrong and by how little known there is about the gen 2 coilovers it would work out a hell of a lot cheaper.
