if you are looking for a cheap very reliable and very well made and designed turbos, HyperGear is the asnwer. Yes they are chinese manufactuered but the difference being they are an ofshoot of a Japanese compnay that went offshore to cut costs (like most countries thses days...sigh) anyways, they do there own developement and have their own design. They released their ball bearing turbos about 2 years ago now, and ive only heard good things. The hardest part is choosing the right turbo, they have many combinations but numbers arent an actual power/size indicator.
FOr their website, you can find them in the sponsors page of Nissansilvia.com or look them up on youtube, they have a sponsored car floatting around. exact figures elude me but something around the 350hp mark from a internally stock CA18det. I have a mate with a skyline who cant speak high enough of them.
Personally id seek out a garret, even a 2nd hand ford xr6t would be awesome chop.
Hypergear do local warranty and can be rebuilt by cgc turbos australia

XR6 turbo's are to big. The exhaust housing is 1.06 and the 3.5 magna's need a maximum of .90 any bigger and you'll have epic lag.

Working to a budget so garretts are out of my price range.Twin turbo why not.Not many out there only one i know of here in qld is black beard and thats who i'm baseing my install off. Will be doing as much of the install i can myself. The only thing i will probly get made are the dunp pipes and the intercooler piping.and the tuning of course.Everything else will be generic of the shelf parts.I will document everything as i go and costs involved.

I will testify, Garret are definately the G-O. Sorry but Ive been running mine hard for over 3 years now it has not skipped a beat, checked it out 1 month ago and the wheel has minimal play. This is an Oil/Water cooled GT28 - 60R.
Cheers,

Well i took the plunge and bought a pair of the KKR 330's they are secondhand with less than 5000km's on them but i only paid $200 for the pair plus postage so it will be no great loss if they fail.Only waiting on the manifolds and a emanage and the install begins.

Do you just bolt on the turbos or is there alot on internal engine needed.

If you want to run more than 7psi and have your engine in 1 piece then you will need to do your internals.

if going single (whihc i know your not) a xr6t turbo would be fine. Those thigns make full boost at 2200rpm in a 4L so a 3.5 wont be far behind, definetely not epic lag. Obviously twin xr6t would be crap especially with the motor only being able to handle around the 10pound mark.
A pair of 330,s wil be nice.

Well anyone want to spend their money on a turbo that "works in theory" then be my guest.I used to think they would be a good option for the magnas as well. I have done the research on turbo sizing and can say that the biggest exhaust A/R you would want on a 3.5 magna is .95. and even then thats pretty big for a V6. The falcon XR6 turbo's use a 1.06 housing and you would be lucky to have full boost by 3500rpm. then what 2000-2500rpm powerband??? not for me especially since the magna 3.5's have such bulk torque already and being front wheel drive the power would come on very hard and just wheel spin through the first 3 gears on the street.
